1. If they are good enough for Dan Majerle, they are good enough for me
2. Cargo shorts are great for fishing and hiking, but are pretty dumb otherwise, though I do miss not sitting on my wallet.
3. No matter what anyone says, if you're wearing pastel colored shorts you look stupid.

I remember playing shirtless in sandals and boardshorts at the courses around SW Iowa in high school. Villisca was always a fun one (and we never paid). Get a tan and then hit the pool!

Apparently, they went of style last year. I've noticed that no one my age wears them anymore.
Yeah. Golf courses and CCs are classy places.

Dressing nice is a hassle. If I dress nice people will start holding me to a higher standard. Who needs that noise!
Play it safe and just rock sweatpants, especially if you're going to a strip club.
Not really. If I go to a fancy restaurant then the implication is that the ambiance and food will be better than it would be in most places. You're dressing up becasue the occasion and environment warrants it.
Golf is just golf wherever you play, for the most part. What purpose does a dress code really serve?
And I would say most golf courses that have dress codes have an implication that the course is better than most places.
I'm just going to keep wearing the same shorts, because I'm too cheap to buy new ones when the styles change.

Mid 40s, yeah the death of cargo shorts hit me hard too.
I've converted over to Oakley/UA golf shorts and am okay with that. Definitely like someone said earlier about the fabric being stretchy, major plus.
I do refuse to wear shorts that are several inches above my knee. Get off my lawn!

Carrying around a wallet in cargo shorts pockets feels 10X better than stuffing it in your back pocket. Especially if you sit.
It serves the purpose of making some CC members think they are better than everyone else most likely.

Left front pocket = money clip
Right Front pocket = cell phone
Two lower side pockets were for keys or any other misc item(s). usually keys
So yes, they were extremely functional and handy.
