What I've learned through this thread and other observation is that socks with shoes are out and socks with sandals are in.

I always thought topanga was kind of weird looking. Older Stephanie Tanner and older Al from Step by Step we’re my TGIF crushes.
but with more socks and sandals combo.This is how I picture like 87% of people on CF.
These have been out of style for years. Picture the last time you heard DMB on the radio... that was the last day they were in style.
I'd rather not dress like a frat boy.
Just like cargo shorts, but you can't carry anything.
I still wear cargo shorts tailgating. you can be stylish, i'd rather be able to tote a 6 pack along for the ride.
You obviously have no clue what "frat guys" dress like. They wear Chubbies and high in-seam chinos not golf shorts...

Easy to figure out. Head to a public place in shorts weather and see what they guys with hot chicks are wearing. That's what you wear. Or you just role with the cargo shorts.
I own probably 20 pairs of "golf shorts" and none look anything like what curt posted either. The functionality (breathability and forgiveness) is a much better perk than the looks.

It's interesting how things that were once "in" become "out"
Back in the 80's when pastel colors and popped collars (usually multiple) were in and the people that wore them probably look back at old pictures of themselves and say. "I don't know what I was thinking"
I also remember guys would wear short shorts with their boxers showing out of the bottom of the shorts. Not sure why that became in.
Outside of work I wear plain old Levis and t shirts and that's not going to change.

If they're not making fun of cargo shorts it'll be something else they're mocking. Wear what you want. I get the appeal of cargo shorts for carrying stuff. And I'll usually wear them when I golf because I like the extra pockets for carrying golf balls and tees, etc.
The super baggy fit is more the issue than the extra pockets.

Damn millennials and their pink stretchy shorts have to ruin a good thing.
I'm in my mid 40's and not skinny, no use in trying to be trendy. I wear ankle high white socks, gray NB 990's, and cargo shorts when I'm outside. The cargo shorts have nice pockets for my big phone. If I'm going somewhere nice, I don't where shorts and don't wear tennis shoes.
I'm also bald and find facial hair uncomfortable.
