You are asking for stuff that you simply won't get.

Probably true. Although, some of the stuff, like thoughts on the FB facility or what the off-field coaches do, provide zero competitive disadvantage. Someone would just need to ask is all.

Yeah Stanz nails it. I don't have much more to add other than 99 percent of what we get from Campbell is buttoned up hardcore football talk. He does these with me because they are fun for him and also realizes it is a good way to showcase his personality to the fans. The objective of this podcast is not to dive insanely deep on Iowa State football but to give fans a different look at these newsmakers as human beings. I thought we've done a pretty good job of promoting them that way but if you feel duped by it, my apologies. There will be plenty of time for the diehard football stuff in coming months and as always, we will cover the hell out of that as well.

I wouldn't get worked up about 1 individual. You just can't please everyone, and some people just can't be happy or satisfied regardless of what you will talk about.

I enjoyed the podcast, it is the side where these guys take off the headsets, isn't doing the cliche coach speak we hear 99% of the time during press conferences. This humanizes the Coach and allows him to be more personable. It's that or have some robot up at the podium who just tells us the same thing, what we want to hear, and we know nothing about him as a person. The fact that he's willing to do this shows a lot. Thank you for your work Chris.

I get that the off the record podcast isn't for this type of content (and I enjoy it in its current format), but put me down as being interested in dang near every one of the topics Frak listed. That's an excellent list!
-News/thoughts on the new facility, plus the benefits for athletes and recruiting
-Replacing major contributors from last year
-Differences between the 4-2-5 they used their first year vs. the 3-3-5 they used the last two.
-Advantages to having a Midwest focus in recruiting
-Vetting process for recruits
-Scheduling of nonconference
-Using the Leo as a LB
-2/3 TE sets vs 4 wide
-Newest equipment additions to the weight room and other practice equipment
-How technology is affecting workouts/practice
-Strategy for early offers/offering more kids than most schools
-What they learned with the new RS rule
-What they learned/how they will change official visits with the December signing date
-If they have open scholarships, what walk-ons are most deserving
-What some of the off-field staff do day to day.

I don't really get all the negative blow back. These pods make me like Campbell even more, as if that was even possible.

Actually, that was pretty far from negative blowback...more like normal feedback. If I didn't like the podcasts, I wouldn't listen to them. Just suggested a few more FB questions and a few less off the field things. No reason for people to get defensive. I understand if that's not possible in this format or if the coach isn't interested in talking about that stuff. It's just a suggestion from an anonymous message board poster.

There’s one person commenting on it. And I don’t think it’s particularly negative.

OK, I want to try to say this in the nicest way possible, but...I personally could not care less what Matt Campbell thinks about LeBron, Baker Mayfield, Mike Leach, the WWE, what restaurants he likes or what he has on his DVR. .

Haven't read the thread past the original post, but reading this line was a great advertisement to go listen to a podcast I hadn't heard about. I like to hear our coaches speak on a more personal level. I don't need more off season coach speak, you can find that anywhere.

I thought maybe CW and MC had gone way overboard after reading the OP because I hadn't listened yet. I listened last night and thought there was quite a bit of football including some insight I hadn't gotten before.

Shakespeare would say this is:
