It's also "easier" now than in 2000:It probably is the Dan McCarney team in 2000 that went 5-3 in conference and won 9 games including the bowl game and that was because we did not play TX and OU that year. I know we have some 4-4 records since then in Big 12 play. Even in the years we made bowl games it was because we got 3 or 4 wins in the non-conference
1. In 2000 Nebraska was ranked #2 in the country (AP) when we played them. The 2017 team doesn't have to play a #2 ranked Nebraska.
2. In 2000 Kansas State was in their heyday as a national top ten program, finishing the year ranked #8 and #9 in coaches/AP polls. K-State is still good, but not near what they were then. The 2017 team doesn't have to play a #8 ranked K-State.
3. In 2000 Texas A&M was in the conference, finishing 5-3 in Big 12 play. The 2017 team doesn't have to play Texas A&M.
