BREAKING: UNI hires Kyle Green as head coach

I don’t think he ever bought a house here so no one should be shocked at this. What happened to the other guy? I thought he was a shoe in.

Otzelberger’s defenses at South Dakota St. and UNLV were not close to what Iowa State’s have been. Green seems to be the one most responsible.
Green's background at UNI was the Pack Line D before coming to ISU.

Otz decided to closely mimic Sampson's UH Trap D after being hired at ISU and hired Mo Ba off of Sampson's staff but Green/Blount/Otz all definitely coached it up.

TJ coaching tree growing is a very very very good thing for Iowa state. Top tier assistants will see our guys getting promoted out to head coaching gigs and want to come here, same way recruits/transfers will see our guys making the NBA and want to come here. Congrats Coach Green!

Guess we're gonna find out how bad Tamin's body really is.... looks like an excellent time to hire the Floor General that was the career steals guy as a defensive specialist coach. I'm sure he could be a great recruiter too. Who knows Ames better? Also an extra practice body.
Two coaching openings? You mentioned Tamin... the other goes to Niang!

I have no issues with guys getting Head Coaching positions, Ill trust TJ to build his staff again....these guys aren't bailing for lateral moves...looks good when guys are moving up.
Exactly. This is a natural by-product of being successful. Hello, this is what every successful collegiate program goes through all the time! TJ's coaching tree is growing!

Congratulations to Kyle Green! It's an opportunity to add another dynamic, young go-getter to the staff. It's better this than getting stale and having 65 plus year old assistants working with and trying to recruit 19 year old kids. Give me young guys like Blount every time.

I think we need to tap back into a Wisconsin with some top coaching talent currently at mid majors in Wisconsin. A quick google search named some people, but who knows..

Seth Tuttle

He knows the defense (Jacobson system) and can coach the bigs. If our bigs are 1/2-2/3 the player he was, we'll see no drop off
Having a former all-American big to mentor Pleta for the next few years isn’t a bad idea.
