I'm glad we didn't get Cluff. The dude is just a glorified Chatfield. Only 1 year of eligibility and a little better inside game than Chatty. Buchanan has way more athleticism then Cluff and is gonna help on the defensive end immensely. Plus 2 years left to play. Buchanan is hungry to be better. Cluff is satisfied with what he's done and got paid because of it. He really reminds me of Dickinson with the way he looks. Probably his role model even....

I wouldn't say glad, but I think Buchanan is a great pick up, and I'd much rather spend big money on a shooting/combo guard

I got no problem with you having your opinion, but bold part is just wild speculation.
Classic case of "didn't want him anyway." Makes no sense because it's obvious that TJ did want him, possibly more than any other transfer he's gone after. I'm fine with Buchanan as well, but let's not act like Cluff sucked.

I heard Cluff walked into a dog shelter and asked to kick puppies. Buchanan walked by and dragged him out and gave him a scolding.

I think we got the right guy.

I believe TJ and Staff wanted him for the right price- but they were not going to overpay for him.

Not only did the staff REALLY want him, he was their #1 priority.

Anyone trying to claim he won’t pan out or wasn’t “worth it anyway” - by definition - does NOT fully trust TJ/staff in their evaluations and who they target in the Portal.

Reportedly offered him the highest NIL package Iowa St has ever put together.
I understood that. TJ and Staff made an offer- Cluff said I am meeting with Purdue and was supposed to revisit the ISU offer after the Purdue meeting. My guess is there was not another offer from the Cyclones. Please correct me if I am wrong in my understanding of events.

He had 2 points in 15 minutes against us about 375 days ago. Consider me not that impressed.

If the 1.5 is correct, I think that's a bad move for a 1 and done guy. I think TJ fell in love with him because of Hendo. And I don't blame him for that.

But it seems like it would be much better to pay 2 pretty decent guys the total of that amount that have 2 years eligibility left and then if they work out, pay them the top dollar to keep them their senior year.

ISU needs some outside shooting, ball handling, and driving for baskets. Maybe some freshman will step up but no Gilbert and Jones is a ton of minutes and production to replace

That's probably correct, but technically Iowa St couldn't "over pay" for him if they don't have the funds to up their highest offer ever.
