Billy Gillispie

A Womanizing, workaholic, alcoholic? Sounds like my type of guy! Which part of the fan base would that not fly with? The old women, the bible thumpers, or the losers who claim everybody who wins cheats?

He's a winner, a workaholic is a good thing, and any single dude who isn't a womanizer is missing out. And he is an excellent basketball coach with Big 12 (winning) experience.

While a bit over the top...I love this post!

I can agree with that. The desperation is setting the wheels of delusion in motion though.
Yeah, well, I'm just glad people still care enough to talk about it given the hole we are in. The problem is, if coach is retained I'm not so sure near as many people will care enough to talk about it or go to games any longer until he is removed....or gasp, makes significant improvements to his own performance.

Alright who did you want then? i'm not attacking you i'm just sayin...

At the time I wasn't sure firing WM was the correct route so I didn't really follow who was out there to get instead.

I would have rather seen LE get some help and support to fix his issues and stay at ISU and no WM as head coach but that didn't happen.

EXACTLY wow we had some good administration, I really loved LE because he didn't care who you were, who your daddy is or where you came from, you came to Iowa
State for 2 reason, to play ball, and get an education, if you didn't like it, get the hell off his court.

We need to be desperate to win. If BG can come in and make us competitive we need to hire him. If you want to watch BB Coached by Choir Boys then maybe NCAA Division I is not the right fit for you.

IDK. I guess what a grown man does, or who he does, when he is single and successful just doesn't bother me. What do we want our players and Coaches to take a vow of celibacy and promise to never have a blood alcohol level of .08 or above? Who cares? If I had standards like that, I wouldn't have any friends.

Honestly, I would still rather have Floyd, and I do not believe that he paid some lackey $3,000.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Of course, this means it probably won't happen but that's another story.

ISU is not going to be able to bring in a perfect hire, I think everyone can agree on this. It is either going be an unproven commodity or somewhat damaged goods. Gillespie at least seems more like a dented can and not spoiled food. At least the knock on him is that he focused so much on his career that his personal life went to hell, not that he only got things done with major recruiting violations (at least as far I know, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

Really, ISU is a great set-up for him. If the McDermott era has proven anything it is that the AD and fanbase are patient. He would be given time to build a winner without having to kill himself here.

I understand all of that. I do. The difference is GMAC is a classy guy and a straight up nice guy pretty much all of the time. The one major difference is that "nice" guys finish last as GMAC is proving this year.

I personally will take a straight up A-hole if the guy can win.

This-Ever heard of a guy named Bobby Knight? I think that many in the media and former players would say that he was an A-hole but guess what, he won . . . . A LOT

Here's the deal fellas. You can hope and dream all you want that Billy G is coming to Ames, if that's what desperation makes you do.

But do you really think that JP and GG have any inclination at all to bring in the coach of the program that was at the center of the Wes Johnson 'tampering' situation?

Maybe they want to do some tampering instead of getting tampered with.:jimlad:

I just want to win man. Win, win, and then win some more.

I don't know what needs to happen for winning to happen, but whatever it is, I'm willing to support it at this point (unless it's ridiculous cheating, violations, etc)

DING DING DING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could we all have forgotten about the biggest A-hole coach to ever set foot on a basketball court?

Iowa State could use a coach that isn't afraid to speak his mind, **** people off, do what needs to be done (within the rules), or discipline his players (with non-lethal choke holds of course).

Got some proof of that "tampering"? I haven't seen, read, or heard any facts from anyone on this subject yet. I doubt you have much to add to that.

Why does this thread continue to go on? He won't be the coach at ISU.
