I've never been a Gillispie fan. I definitely wouldn't be a fan of hiring him. I might even stop buying season tickets if he were hired.

Gillespie would be a great hire! Good coach who knows the Big 12.
I am not that worried about his longevity at the position... if he stays 4 or 5 years and does well, that is fine with me. We haven't had anyone last longer than that since Orr. I am way more worried about how successful he is than the length of his tenure.

You will if he starts winning immediatly for us. And you see him in the news with his arms around his players after wins.....smiling with the alumni....
He's a big name....and if he brought ISU back to the top of the B12 we would be relevant again. We will never get there with Greg.
Winning wouldn't change how I feel about him. He's not someone I can cheer for. Winning is not a substitute for character.
At this point I could get behind just about anybody that would win consistently, even if he's got some character issues. I'm not sure how things could get a lot worse than what we're dealing with. I'm kind of in the Clark Griswold camp right now......

I think most people won't state this...but feel this way! And definitely would if we were competing for the Big XII title year in and year out!
The Billly rumor may or may not have truth to it, but one thing that can't be denied is the fact that where there is smoke there is fire. There are just to many leaks now to say "oh its just a rumor" The editor of this site and Randy Peterson at the RAG need to sack up, do some fact finding and quit kissing GMAC arse! Yes folks it is happening, we are going to be freed from this hell called the GMAC era! I say bring on Billy, Larry, Timmy or whoever you want just get us a new coach!
I do understand where he is coming from. Gillispie would get us good, have a good year, then bolt on us. He wouldnt like it here in ames at all. I would love to have him as a coach, but he would pull a chiz and leave on us.
Well if he did that, hopefully a contract would be in place to cost him and not us.
In Floyd's defense, he didn't recruit Mayo, Mayo called USC. Also, Floyd didn't pay the dude, some creep did.
Hasn't been proven. Could have been the AD according to some reporting. (And could have turned the story on Floyd.)
And I would still take him over the current coach.
I think we could get him to sign a contract that would keep us from getting screwed in that situation because I don't think a lot of bigger programs than us will offer him a job. I think he'll take what he can get to get back in the game.
A Womanizing, workaholic, alcoholic? Sounds like my type of guy! Which part of the fan base would that not fly with? The old women, the bible thumpers, or the losers who claim everybody who wins cheats?
He's a winner, a workaholic is a good thing, and any single dude who isn't a womanizer is missing out. And he is an excellent basketball coach with Big 12 (winning) experience.
