Bigger issue with DeJean-Jones

I knew this would be unpopular with some. But I think you guys are reading WAY too much into what I'm saying. The main point I'm making is about his off the field actions. If anyone can honestly sit here and say that the fact that he has had multiple run ins with the cops is a non issue, then I guess we can just agree to disagree.

This is no higher than thou type of position. I want to like this guy. I didn't have an opinion about him based on his transfer status. In fact, I've been a big fan of pretty much every transfer we've had. Even in college, I would know better than to blast my music at all hours if the cops had already been called on me. Certainly if they'd already had 6 trips!

Why didn't you get to the point right off the bat!

I *thought* I was going to disagree with you based on the first paragraph, but the 3rd paragraph nailed it.

Haha I do what I can.

Also, a lot of people are confusing 60 decibel sound measured in the hallway with the players' apartment making only 60 decibels of noise.

If it was 3 am and I could hear someone's music in my bed as loud as someone having a conversation with me or an air conditioner in my own apartment, that is much different than hearing the amount of noise that comes from an air conditioner or people talking loudly in the apartment next to me through the walls.

Having a weed party and having a noise complaint at 4 in the morning before the biggest game of the year so far...... is such an unselfish player....

In apartments like fountain view and pretty much everywhere else in West Ames, the walls are paper thin due to cheap construction.

I love it that it doesn't matter whether someone makes a positive or negative statement on CF people will always come out of the woodwork and take sides as if you just ***** slapped their mother.

They need to stop doing the pot! Next thing we know they will be snorting doobies and injecting lines of crack!

I lived in West Ames for 3 years and I know the walls can be thin (I am actually painfully aware of this), but it's still a distinction that needs to be recognized. I doubt the original noise was coming out of their stereo at 60 decibels. That's all I'm saying.

Im not disagreeing with anyone about the kid as i've never hung out with him or live in his building. However, based on the comments in DM Register by his neighbor (former ISU wrestler) and currently a Junior at ISU....

Its been more about continued disrespect to everyone around him and total lack of concern for everyone living near him. The article paints a very different story that is probably putting all his neighbors in a semester from hell...

With that said, the neighbor said in the meeting that he had with BDJ and Fred, that the Coach was very clear with his expectations of BDJ and he assured Fred that he would tame things down...

Guess not....

Bottom line is, this has nothing - absolutely nothing to do with his court play. This is him as an ISU representative and how he acts in general. If that story is valid - i think everyone here posting would hold a completely different opinion if you lived next to him and had been tormented as suggested. Who cares about basketball then?

Hopefully this forces him to understand that his actions have reactions and its called PLAYING TIME.

Get your head on straight BDJ - we want you to be a part of our run, doing it the right way. Remember those people around you that your making life rough on, are the ones that might be cheering you on in Hilton.

One last question - ESPN stated that Nader is his room mate? Really - why no charges on him?

Erik, how could you? I am so disappointed.

I was in college watching Beavis and Butthead with my roommates and we were imitating too loudly. Our noisy neighbors took the time to call the police, since they were tired of us talking to them about the noise levels that moved our couch.

It was awkward for all, but we were pretty loud. The police called it in with "just some guys having fun with their favorite show." I'm not sure we ever watched again.

The only issue BDJ has is his POS neighbor. What kind of garbage calls the cops on their neighbor, especially 12 times??? Men solve problems face to face, little girls hide in their room and call the cops.

To be clear, I don't think these charges are a big deal. It's the overall picture he's creating. The fact that he's apparently an ongoing nuisance to his neighbors, the cops, and the fact that his coach has to babysit him. That annoys me.

I agree with this part of the statement. I realize multiple athletes get "babysat", but that is usually enough to keep them out of trouble. It shouldn't be too hard to avoid the situation which your coach to suspends you for a noise violation. If BDJ was being wronged and deserved the benefit of the doubt here, CFH could have stuck his neck out for him and not suspended him. Wasn't willing to do that.

So, this may be unpopular to those of you who only care about this guy scoring points and playing basketball but oh well. I can't get behind this guy at this point. Can he play ball, yes. But my impression of him has been as a selfish person. Watching him play is sometimes irritating as he seems more me first than anyone else. Hearing that he has had the cops called on him multiple times for playing loud music and annoying his neighbors is just more of the same.

Yes, Fred had a talk with him apparently and his game got more team friendly. But apparently Fred was also called in to meet with BDJ and the cops. To me, that is ridiculous, childish, and disrespectful.

I hope this is the thing that makes him realize he's got a heck of an opportunity not just at ISU playing basketball, but in life.

I wonder how many times the cops have been called on Niang for annoying his neighbors or how many times they were called on Fred in his days as a student. In fact, compare him to any of our "troubled transfers". There is more to it than scoring points on the floor to get the respect of the fan base. Being a gifted athlete only goes so far.

I really am irritated about this situation as much as you, but I'm even more irritated about your post. Not because you feel he apparently has behaviors off the court that need to be corrected, but for your criticism of his play. Everyone in the Maryland game was trying to make a play when the offense struggled, not just BDJ. What I've seen from him most games is a guy who has gone out of his way to play within the system and share the ball, etc. Think about this.... He has shot around 80% for two straight games, one time scoring 27 pts. on 8/8 shooting. Are you kidding me? If he really was selfish, as hot as he was he could have put up 40 that night. And he only takes 8 shots! 8 shots!
I happen to know someone who has worked with or dealt with BDJ and he has told me on numerous occasions how nice, thankful, friendly, and nice he was. And, no, I'm not saying that because I happen to like watching him play. Obviously, this situation stinks and it eludes to a 22 yr.old that makes bad decisions when partying. Not condoning it one bit and I'm glad Fred suspended him. But I really don't think your blanket coverage of the whole person and his basketball play, much less accusing the fan base of not thinking clearly due that he was an athlete, was warranted in this case. Just my opinion.

Or in the case of Bryce (maybe Nader) they call the cops when there literally are little girls in their room.
