Big 12 vs Big Ten Debate

Elite brands, yes. Of course. Take the logo on the helmets away, THIS year, you are absolutely certain Penn State, Oregon, Mich and USC are that much better than Arizona State, Utah, Iowa State and Texas Tech?

I dont know that is where the NFL is so much better than college football. When the ball is snapped, doesnt matter if you have a Jacksonville Jaguar helmet or Dallas Cowboy helmet. You have equal opportunity to make the playoffs and your play on the field decides that.
You do in college football as well but they need to get rid of the not dropping teams if you lose your conference championship game.

USC I wouldn’t put above those teams thai year. Michigan maybe but need to see how underwood develops over the season, talent wise they are better but a lot of pieces that need to fit in.

OSU, Penn State, and Oregon are better though, Illinois would be another toss up and Indiana would be lower then all 3

Ok so after we take away the B1G's best team tOSU, yes this year's teams I see:

PSU > ASU
Oregon > Utah
Michigan > Iowa St.
Lol why do you consider Michigan better than Iowa State...again...THIS year. Take away prestige and take away the logo on the helmet. Looking forward to your answer.

Also, Im not so sure on Oregon over Utah. Would kill to see that game next weekend.

Look, I get it. The narratives are annoying, but this is like when the morons say “Democrat Party”. It is nails on a chalkboard it is so childish.

Call ‘em “Buckeyes + Friends”, or “Leaders and Legends” if you’re feeling particularly vicious. But seriously, “B1G” is just such a dumb insult it backfires when you use it.

Well they're ranked higher, I think they have more talent and I think they'd probably beat you on a neutral field.

I agree with you on the last two points, although it depends when they played this season but you can’t use early season rankings as an argument

You kept chirping that Ohio beat ISU. I think it is only appropriate to acknowledge that the Cyclones beat Oregon.

Your bias is showing again.
When people were trying to downplay Rutgers' close win over Ohio by implying Ohio is some crappy little program? Yeah, I did remind them that Ohio is a top end MAC program who beat ISU.

Not sure what your Oregon point is supposed to be? We've beaten Texas and Ohio St. and LSU. I'm not going to try saying we're an equal or better program or that we'd beat them most years. Lol.

1.) Guessing they will be ranked very similarly tomorrow.
2.) I can't argue they don't have more talent. That does not make them a better team.
3.) I suspect it would likely be a very close game.

You apparently hold Oregon in high regard and I reminded you that the Cyclones beat them. LOL.

I must have missed your LSU and Texas previous references.

Wait are we talking about the Covid Oregon team? Where the Pac didn’t even start playing games till November? I would count the win too but the whole covid season has a bit of an *

Put it in perspective. Numerous Cyclones were puking during the trip to Athens but I haven’t seen anyone putting an * on that game.

In fact @Gonzo referenced it many times.

Had to google to figure out what you were talking about and yeah that’s also a big old *. Really shoudl have had that news out ahead of the game but know cmc doesn’t talk about that stuff

Now I’m also not in the camp of excusing Rutgers for a close win because any average P4 team should have no problem against a G5 squad.

It's not like Oregon was vastly better than Utah their last few years in the same conference, they were about the same. They both had 2 championships the final five years and Utah's were more recent.

Of course the money gap is growing, but Oregon always had more money in the program than Utah and most.

Perception. It’s as simple as that. The media narrative is that because the Big12 doesn’t have a couple flagship name brands, we’re automatically weaker as a whole.
My only issue with this is when the local guys, the guys covering the B12 also repeat the same rhetoric as the national guys stumping for the SEC.

Our local guys should be doing everything they can to break that narrative, and cast the B12 is a better light.

B10 will be said to get a pass because those teams were supposed to be bad, yet the B12 cant do the same?

No one should count out or count in anyone after week 1. Almost like preseason rankings are full of bias BS that no one should promote. But with that all these media types top to bottom national and local know that clicks are money so saying things that will get the most reactions is what its all about.

So after week 1, I think the Big12 still has a chance to change the narrative. Key will be to have Colorado and Baylor be at the bottom of the league. The Baylor loss was seen as bad because they were expected to compete for the top of the league. If ISU, TCU, Utah, Tech, and Kansas separate themselves and roll the teams that looked bad to open the season, I still think the perception can change. Just need to keep the ranked teams winning to play each other.

I don't know how far back one needs to go to make a win relevant to a program's current place but isn't one of these in the last decade, the other two 20 and 40 years old?

When I am ultimately made global dictator, I will institute public floggings of anyone who participates in a college football poll before the end of the first week of conference play. It isn't the action America wants, it's the action America needs.
