It would be most interesting to see if USC could duplicate that performance if the game were played in Happy Valley in January instead of their own frickin' back yard.

Since they go anywhere and play anybody, and win those games, I'm thinking they can make it more impressive in Happy Valley.
And this is exactly the reason why SH is so defensive about Penn State and is touting a McCarney-esque 2nd half victory. The Hawk fans are still living in a dream world where they beat a top 5 team this year. The fact is that Penn State was overrated the entire season (not Iowa's fault but it's now a fact) and Iowa made a field goal to beat them. What if that FG doesn't go in? I can't wait for the preseason expectations for Iowa next year, THAT should be entertaining!
Playing in Happy Valley in January would be a lot different than playing @Virginia in August. It doesn't hurt USC that the Rose Bowl is 10 miles from campus.
I really wish Cyclone fans would stop ******** about this. If Oregon State had beaten Oregon, Ohio State wouldn't have gotten in. Texas may very well beat up on the Bucks, but you can't blame Ohio State for the Beav laying an egg at home with the Rose Bowl on the line.

Whether or not they "should" have has nothing to do with it. When the Beav lost, the Fiesta's decision came down to Ohio State or Boise. Ohio State is going to win the battle every time.
Yes, it does matter....if Oregon State wins that game, USC would have got the spot that Ohio State took. If you're looking for a place to vent your frustration about the Buckeyes getting in, look towards Corvallis.
Again, your anger is being misplaced. It isn't about who "deserves" anything when it comes to what teams get picked for at-large BCS spots - or any other bowl outside the BCS for that matter. It's about money. You sound like a jNU fan ******** about Iowa getting picked ahead of them for the Outback.
Boise State lost to TCU, by the way. A "deserving" team would have won.
If you were the BCS, and your job was to bring in the most money, which school are you going to take - Ohio State or Boise State? 10 out of 10 times Ohio State will be chosen over Boise State because Ohio State brings in more money than Boise State could ever dream about.
Until the actual system is changed so it's not geared towards money (which it will never be), that's just what we're cursed with.
Do you really want a football game decided by the weather? And the Big X has been playing the Pac-10 at that stadium for 62 years. It's not like they are now, all of a sudden, just figuring out that the Pac-10 happens to exist in a nicer part of the country than the Big 10 does in terms of weather.
USC should've beaten Oregon State this year. Or Stanford last year. Or UCLA the year before.
ISU is obviously better than #12 in the Big 12 too, if they show up for all the games they should have showed up for.
And for all those people calling for the exclusion of the Big 10 conference when the BCS considers change for the 2014 season, you can forget it - it's not going to eliminate the conference that brings in the Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh markets.
Boise State deserved it by being ranked higher (#9) than Ohio State (#10) in the BCS standings. But Texas Tech (#7) deserved to be in a BCS bowl ahead of both of them. If the BCS makes any changes, it's time to do away with the no more than 2 teams per conference rule. Texas Tech is being punished for playing in the best division in the country and Ohio State is being rewarded for playing in what is essentially the MAC conference with bigger stadiums.
