Better times coming?

We can afford it. Pollard is in love with his hires and will not let go.

Not true in this case. Pollard and CPR have a good working relationship, but it's very businesslike. Pollard has already told CPR that it's bowl game or a new coach when next year concludes.

Are you sure about this? I hope it is true and that you have some sort of inside knowledge.

I don't think anyone but Pollard and CPR know that for sure, but it is pretty safe to assume that is the situation, and then some of the guys that can't wait to fire CPR can move on the hating the next guy when he doesn't win enough games for their plans.

Personally, I think that having aspirations (or at the very least, expectations) for the football program is much better than blind loyalty to whoever happens to be the current head coach at Iowa State University.

I may be stupid, but I'm very optimistic.. Could be the year we finally buy tickets. When do they start selling 2015 Football?

Agreed. But ISU does not have the budget necessary for supporting a revolving door of head coaches until one of them finally gets it right. We are a patient fanbase- but there is a threshold for hope. Another season without any noticeable improvement and we will have crossed it.

I think the offense showed improvement execution-wise from 2013; but the line needs an attitude adjustment. The continued inability to convert on 3rd & 1 is just inexcusable. Hence the juco-chasing this off season: road graders needed. The skill positions aren't outstanding, but they are adequate. We really need to capitalize on our size at wide receiver. Welcome back, Bundrage. Let's see if Ozigbo can make an impact from day 1. I'm excited about any running back that holds a Wisconsin offer. 5'11" 220# can be a nightmare for linebackers.

DT is for Demond Tucker. If you're going to make an impact on the defensive interior, you need to have a chip on your shoulder. Believing is the first step; I hope his attitude rubs off on the rest of the defense because there was no belief on that squad last fall. It's unfair to pin hopes for the entire program on one player, but I think in this case it is warranted. The good news is it sounds like he's eager to carry that burden. If Jordan Harris has finally got the playbook figured out, we may finally have some teeth in the front 7 again. Plenty of snaps return from a youthful defense- that was not the case last spring. Hopefully that experience counts for something.

I just hope people do not have their hopes up very much for next season. Do I want ISU to make a bowl game? Yes, for sure. For that to happen ISU would need to have one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation as far as wins from one season to the next. The chances of that happening are pretty small.

We may have gotten a couple of recruits but this is way different than basketball, you need about several guys per class to field a proper team unless there is really good coaching. ISU is so far away from Big 12 caliber players in the front 7 on D and across the O-line it is not even funny.

Will ISU be improved next season? Yes, I think we win about 4 maybe 5 at the ceiling with this staff. (I know they are staying!) I think with a decent staff a bowl game could happen fairly easily with the way the schedule sets up. Look at the way OU is getting pounded right now. We were smoked by them and as most folks know, they are not very good.

I just wish Pollard would have pulled the trigger after this season. THe schedule sets up so nice for ISU next year to breakout with 8 wins. This just seems to be another 'Iowa State' moment where we can't seize a potential opportunity. Again, I hope I am wrong about all this, I guess we will see after next season. Hopefully this site is not blowing up with traffic on a new coaching search. Should Pollard get another chance at a football hire? He chose Chizik over Kelly, Briles and Harbaugh...and then Rhoads over who even knows. The one thing I like is that HC Wells at Utah State is still available. Perhaps we can get him after next season.

Last paragraph is full of a lot fail.

Are you implying that Pollard doesn't? And that he has blind loyalty to Rhoads?

thats a special kind of dumb.
