Damn yellow jackets are back in the bird feeder. Just duct taped all of the little openings on the side they were using to get in and out. Will see how that works. I think the feeder is full enough that other routes in and out require them to dig through a lot of seed. Still don't want to go toxic avenger on them since I don't want to put that kinda stuff on the seed/birds.

Bees are mean. I buried the hive that was in my window well after they stung me a few weeks ago.

That helps them know I don't give f***. Eventually I'll do it in a jock.

Continuation of "They're Back!".

Too many opening in the bird feeder and upon closer look this morning LOTS of yellow jacket bastards in the feeder.

Looked in the plastic windows and saw these and where they are getting in.

Next step TBD. As I noted earlier in deference to my bird buddies I don't want to go all toxic avenger. I may take the feeder off the pole tonight and drop it in a garbage can of water. I assume these bastards don't swim (or do they?).

So when this is all over, do you plan to do the book or movie first? If movie, for TV, direct to DVD, ??

My preference would be to see it on the big screen, those gym shorts especially

We haven't had much trouble with these up by the house, but about five years ago after the leaves fell we saw a nest down by the creek...paper wasps of some sort. It was a huge ball...about half again as large as a basketball. We called ISU Entomology & they told us to wait until winter, then just knock it down. They said that having it a good distance from the house was actually good placement for a large nest because they were less likely to be aggressive where we are the most active. I'm just glad I didn't know about it until after it was dormant....it would have bugged the bejeebers out of me...pun intended!

Last summer I noticed yellow jackets flying around the picnic table at work. They were in the metal tube that held the bench. We didn't have any wasp spray, so I went in the warehouse and got a can of white spray paint. I'll bet I painted 70-80 -- they just kept bubbling out of the tube. A lot of white jackets when I was done.

Okay, dropped the bagged bird feeder into the storage container full of water. Issues with buoyancy so had to weight it down with a rock and cut the bag to let in the water. Some of the little bastards swam to the surface where I cut them in half with my Chicago Cutlery scissors. Die wasps die!

I'll open it up tomorrow to see how many were actually in the feeder.

No sh**. My wife killed earlier. What is bigger than a wasp but similar and black. That's what it looks like.
