Barnes, Brackins, and the future

Well, if you can't give your source, we appreciate the info, but there's no reason to keep insisting that it's true. Without a source, we'll just have to take it with a grain of salt--which I'm sure you understand.

Yes I understand that, but there is no way I can give a source. Just know that HB told McD out of respect for him and our program, thinking it would help us. Once again, this is painfully the truth.

It is like people on here do not watch college basketball in general.. and they just watch ISU. Can people not see how physically far behind we are from the rest of the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big 10.

Go find me a BCS school that is in the top 25 that uses less than stellar athletes but runs a good system.

Washington State is down this year but they made the tournament the last two years (first round win last year and Sweet 16 two years ago). I think they fit the profile of a system program with less than stellar athletes.

Not likely in the least. Better chance of the horseshoe coming.

Even with the new facality? They really need to do something. I mean it has to be clear to the staff something in the weight program needs to change. Its not like every team we play isnt twice as big as our players.

Exactly. I'm sure people were saying the same thing about ISU football in the early 80's. "Oh baby, we're so close, next year is the year!"

Those folks had to wait until 2000 to reach another bowl game.

Until McDermott proves something, I'm not buying this "the future is bright" crap. Give us a legit reason to think that. And no, this isn't an anti-McD post, it could apply to any coach, at any school.

Yeah back in the 80's there were a whole lot of those people who said ...by golly next year we're going to the Orange Bowl!!!

Never happened and I doubt it ever will at ISU...Not enough Money Not enough resources to win in the big 12!!!

Apathy is setting in boys and its not a pretty sight when the football and basketball venues are 75% EMPTY!!!

Been There.. Seen It and Done It!!!!!!!!!!!!!

read my previous posts about harrison, you can tell i'm hinting at this , never wanted to come out clearly with it though, hoping it could still happen but sounds like barnes thinks he is better than ISU and family.

THANK YOU isucyfan for editing my post to protect Duke! I don't want to hurt their feelings with namecalling on this CYCLONE board. Duke University, i apologize for calling you P***.

:cough: you suck dook! :cough: sorry sorry i just get carried away!

Why don't you buys just ask Jake Sullivan where HB is going? I'm convinced (rightly or wrongly) that Jake knows where Barnes is going and is just keeping it under wraps because: ITS NOT IOWA STATE!!!

What if Mac hires Jake to be a grad asst?

A lot of the AAU coaches who package themselves with a star player end up with a full time assistant position. I doubt if Jake would sell himself short especially with a player at HB's level.

It was unclear as to who you were calling that name. There was some ambiguity as to if you were saying that to a poster, to HB, or to Duke, so I erred on the side of caution.

I'm sorry if that offended you. You can always PM me or any mod for clarification.

It was edited because someone reported it and took it as an attack at them and not Duke.

Duke attacks are fine.

Can you be an asst coach without a masters? Can you be an assts coach without being a grad asst?

We don't need a separate strength conditioning coach for bball. Most BCS teams don't have one.
We do, however, need more effort and dedication from the players themselves...

With the new weightroom in the new facality maybe they will lift on their own or extra, since everything is right there. How do you have one person running the main weightroom and the BB weightroom at the sametime.

I assume you mean the main weightroom at Lied? Then have Moser or an assistant come over to the bball facility for a few hours a day. It shouldn't be difficult. The players should be accountable for progress, and be able to motivate themselves.
For example, I doubt that any team lifts harder than the Pitt bball team. Yet their weight coach also trains the womens bball team, the baseball team, the softball team, and serves as an assistant with football.

It is clear something has to be done to get more muscle on these players. As for players motivating themselves, I dont know about that. The way they look it doenst seem they have the motivation to do the extra now. They also need someone there to make sure they are lifting properly. To me the money it would take to hire a BB shared weight coach would more than pay for itself.

I agree; something different has to be done. When practice started last fall, GMac talked about what a great off-season they had, and how much stronger the team was, and all the weight they gained. I said then on this board that it sure didn't look like it...
Maybe they need someone to really kick ***.

I know Nebraska are over achievers and work extremely full speed in practice. Since we are not that good, I suggest McD needs to try this approach as he is still a few pieces short in the chest game.l
