Barnes, Brackins, and the future

I'm sorry, but here it is. Barnes is not coming to ISU. He told coach McD weeks ago to go ahead and look elsewhere with that scholly. This is the absolute truth.

I don't mean to discredit you, but I would be a rich man if I had a dollar for the number of 'absolute truths' I have seen here and on CR that end up being absolutely not the truth.

What's so hard to get? Oddly enough:jimlad:, much like Utah, BYU is a BCS school.

Are you trying to clever or something? You have to know they play in the MWC.

That senario sounds horrible to me. Again, reaffirms my thought that we are no where close.

I agree, no offense to those guys but it comes down to our perpetual problem over the last three years - who scores in that lineup?

If you'd prefer, I'd say that Purdue doesn't have all that many phenomenal athletes, or point out that before you can be top 25, you have to be top fifty--which doesn't require all phenomenal athletes. It's a process. One step at a time.

Ok. You have offically totally discredited yourself with me. Purdue is lightyears beyond where ISU is just athletically speaking.

3 years... Zero steps forward.

Im sorry if you dont believe me snow, but it happened, over a couple weeks ago. For obvious reasons I can't give my source but there is no doubt about it being 100% true.

Even with the new facality? They really need to do something. I mean it has to be clear to the staff something in the weight program needs to change. Its not like every team we play isnt twice as big as our players.

you could not be more wrong. There is always going to be something wrong with the wt program when you recruit bean poles who generally do not have as good as muscle building genetics. For example if you recruit both Eik and Horton as freshmen, which one is going to be bigger and stronger from the wt program after 4 years? Horton has a head start and since he has better muscle building genetics he will have more upside to put more muscle. If GMac wants bigger and stronger guys, he needs to recruit it. The wt. room/program is not going to fix the sins.

Time will tell dude. This has been said many times over the course of the last few years. You might be the one that's actually right. If you are, I'm sure Snow and I will virtual high-five you for being the mystery man that broke the news, right after we finish our racking sobs.

Joking on the last part.

I know Nebraska are over achievers and work extremely full speed in practice. Since we are not that good, I suggest McD needs to try this approach as he is still a few pieces short in the chest game.l

I agree with you Wes...Good old Nebbie is doing much better than ISU in the athletic arena...BUT THEN AGAIN NEBBIE HAS TWICE THE MONEY...so good old Nebbie should do twice as well as isu!!!

clone11 seems pretty persistent... he must know someone that knows what is going on :wink::th_Jttesur:

Didn't someone just come on here and say a couple weeks ago that Barnes was a lock for ISU?

Point being, things get easily lost in translation.

It can in the MVC, I'm not sure about the Big 12.

IMO, you have to field at least one marque athlete to be near the top in a major conference.
Brackins this year, Johnson last year, and Taylor the year before that we have had some stars we need better role players.

Your info or you source is unequivocally 100% wrong. Barnes has not spoken to Mac about not coming to ISU.

Just this morning my dog looked at me and said, " I am sorry but HB has told GMAC that he is not coming." Good enough source for you now?:jimlad:

Are you trying to be sarcastic or funny? BYU and Utah are BCS schools?

I'm actually watching Purdue play Illinois right now and they would absolutely run us off the court. Quick guards, reliable outside shooters, athletic big men.

Why don't you just quit posting on this thread? You're wrong on so many levels.

With only 125 posts you obviously dont know AClone very well. He is like a dog on a bone when he gets on a role. Look up resolve in the dictionary and you get a picture of him:jimlad:

It is like people on here do not watch college basketball in general.. and they just watch ISU. Can people not see how physically far behind we are from the rest of the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big 10.

Go find me a BCS school that is in the top 25 that uses less than stellar athletes but runs a good system.

Thank you! Exactly. We have 3 maybe 4 big 12 athletes on this team. This how McD fielded teams at UNI, basically around 2 good/great players; A good post, and a good guard. I'm findng it hard to believe that it will work here on a consistent basis.

I'm just going to say whats on my mind....:
Not taking anything away from JVB or Hamilton, but I don't see them accomplishing a whole lot at ISU. Hopefully I'm wrong and one turns into Homan. Neither's there athletically speaking....
Lucca avg shooter, and thats it. If he can develop his shot somewhere near Sullivan's I'll be happy, bc he plays **** poor defense, much like Sullivan....
DG needs to develop A jump shot. Hopefully after 2 years he will....

Maybe Colvin and Gilstrap are part of the solution to this problem. If both of them come, and Brackins stays, we'll see a huge improvment in terms of athleticism.

I'll make this simple for ya. Here ya go, straight from the NCAA site:

The Mountain West is a BCS Conference. BYU is a member of the Mountain West. Therefore, BYU is a BCS School. Simple enough to understand.

I know that Spring Break has started, but I hope that we've all learned something here.

As far as Purdue, they have good athletes, and some very good athletes, and excellent basketball players. At the same time, a school like Memphis could run them off the floor. Memphis has the phenomenal athletes referred to above--and coaching would have to compensate.

Plus, almost all of Purdue's players have been around campus for a while. Hummel was awfully lanky last year. I think we'll see the physique and athleticism of some ISU players change radically over the summer. Lucca, Hamilton, Jamie and Eikmeier (all of whom are in their first year of NCAA competition) prominently among them.

As far as your last point...well, I guess that you'd understand "wrong on so many levels".

Fair enough. I was considering BCS school to mean one of the big 6 conferences with the automatic bids in football.

Genetics do play a role in it. But in Mac 3 years here he hasnt had one player that can put muscle on? Cory J had a big frame and didnt look to ripped to me. Look at Boozers brother, he is huge yet he cannot get ripped. AT is another player that should be bigger. SH's brother wes ripped as a Sr, what happed to Sean. Ham's dad was a FB player so it will be interesting to see what he does. Teams like OSU and KSU seem to have a team loaded with ripped players, you cannot tell me the only reason they are that is because of they are recruiting players with better genes.
