Ashley Okland Murder

The lady who was arrested was the sales manager for the builder Ashley worked with. They would have worked on every deal together. The sales manager is who the realtor calls when they get the offer. I cant fathom what Ashley could have done to have this lady kill her. I knew Ashley since college and were realtors together. It does explain how she was able to get so close to shoot her in the head. I unfortunately have talked with this lady many times at Midland. I am so happy for her family that this day has come.

Jealous wife?

Anyone seen any connection to what this woman's husband was doing 15 years ago, any chance there was something going on with the victim and this woman's husband? Did he also work with them? Did they meet at some work party or something etc.?

Jealous coworker seems possible too, but for a woman to barely have a speeding ticket on her record to resort to murder for workplace jealousy would seem unlikely.

But, jealousy or anger because of an affair does happen often.

Not saying I have any info outside what has been reported, but this theory, at least makes sense.

I always thought it was someone close like the fiance. I am glad I was wrong but also shows you can't assume things..

Wow, sorry for your loss. Won't surprise me in the least if it has to do with $. Significant sums of money involved in the sale of those properties. Perhaps some financial impropriety such as theft, self-dealing, embezzlement, etc. that someone was worried might become exposed....

Well, that builder did stop building in Des Moines later that year.

I am really interested in hearing what lead to the arrest when they have the press conference tomorrow. This has been a cold case that seemed like it would never get solved and for this arrest to happen this many years later makes you wonder what domino had to fall to lead to this.

Out of respect to all involved we need to be careful with speculation until the facts of the case are revealed. I'm thankful that Ashley's family now is closer to having some closure to her death but at the same time it opens a painful wound too.

That would have been prime suspect #1 and can’t imagine it would have evaded police for 15 years.

My guess after watching tons of true crime is they had some DNA and finally got a hit somehow (genealogy, tip that led them to collect it from this woman, etc).

Hope the family gets the closure and answers they deserve.

They can do things to create a DNA profile from evidence they couldn't do even a year ago. Its insane how far along DNA technology has come. Stuff they do now makes things they did even 10 years ago seem like the stone age.

DNA on what, though? As the sales manager of the developer, her DNA being at the scene (or even possibly on the victim) wouldn't be that remarkable. Unless it was on something directly tied to the murder. Do we know if there was any sort of struggle before the gunshots?

It was probably on the victim or her clothes. Or there was an abnormal amount of it at the crime scene in general. Like all over the counter. An altercation of some kind would leave way different types of trace evidence than a normal work encounter. I'm sure she probably made some statement at one time or another that didn't line up with finding also.

I mean its entirely possible the police had narrowed it down to her as the likely suspect years ago but only recently were able to get some final bit of evidence that made the case solid enough to move forward.

Committing fraud with the company and Ashley found out? That probably would’ve been unearthed by now though.

Can’t wait to hear what the detectives turned up.

Yes, many of the theories out there seem to be things that one would think would have lead to them figuring it out sooner.

It is going to be really interesting to find out the motive and what finally lead them to an arrest.

There are a lot of criminals out there that have gotten away for many years, and many probably thought they were in the clear for a long time. But with todays tech, and more so tomorrows tech, you wonder not just how anyone could get away with anything today, and just how many old cases are going to finally be solved.

DNA and Genetic Genealogy tech is getting extremely good.
