Just talked with my 45 year ND booster and he first said the exact same thing as what @Stormin has above. Felt good about that until I told him of CMC's quotes on goals, and why he's stayed in Ames (we all know them).

My buddy's next comment was-- "Wow. I know you don't want to hear this, but that's exactly the type of person ND administration will want. You better hope Campbell doesn't get an interview."

That’s my concern. The fans may not like the hire. But the decision makers will fall in love.

Agree, I have seen the public mock-ups of the entertainment (Power & Lights?) I think district and it looks incredible. Obviously with budget restrictions and everything else I'm not sure about the how - when - etc and everything else but that would certainly transform the current space. Nostalgia me would miss the wide open spaces of tail gating with grandpa but adapatble me would certianly love the district and everything else

Oklahoma and Texas leaving this year would certainly help with expenses

At Iowa State Campbell has it made and I'd like to see him coach another 30 years in Ames. Move to Notre Dame and what ISU did in 2020 is the minimum they expect every year. Ranked top 10 preseason and finish 7-5 at Notre Dame and you are fired.

The best job Hoiberg could find was Nebraska and if he has another poor season he will be out of work. He could have coached at ISU for as long as he wanted to stay.

The grass isn't always greener.

Campbell could very well win the job with a great interview. Campbell is awesome. Do you know much about Fickell? Have you heard his goals? Impressive. Same with Marcus Freeman. Notre Dame will end up with a good coach. I expect all of them to be impressive.

What does winning a NC do for you personally? Does it just mean that you can talk smack non-stop? Or is there some benefit I'm unaware of? I'm trying to figure out why people drop millions to pay for coaches each year.
