All Big 12 Teams

If this list is correct every other coach in the Big 12 absolutely sucks at their job compared to Campbell and his staff. I mean they shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence, they may not even be the same species of life form.

The fact that you can win a 16 team conference without any good players. I mean who is on the cover of SI this month?

That's a tough one. Hunter had more catches, yards and TDs. Would have liked to see Higgins on there though. There's not another receiver in the league I'd rather have.

The ASU WR has nearly identical stats, just a tiny bit more.

The reason Higgins is probably the best WR, is no other WR has a second receiver that is also all conference level like Noel. I won't be surprised at all if Higgins is the best NFL prospect...as an actual wideout, not a slot receiver or a defensive back.

Where our team really got screwed was on defense. I'm not trading Orange, Singleton or several of our defensive backs for many of these players. I certainly don't think ASU has four players better than our best player on defense.

If Dom Orange were more consistent, his ceiling is 1st team but he had a couple duds this year.. Jontez will be 1st team next year (If we can keep him).

This team is a sum of parts more than individual performances. Look at how many injuries we have had on defense and the unit kept us in most games.

I also think offensive play calling held back Noel and Higgins by several hundred yards on the season. We also had virtually nothing from our #1 TE all year, after he finished 2023 #3 on the team in receiving yards.

I think trying to predict this is like astrology.

It reminds me of when our Hoiball team kept getting picked 8th out of 10 every year even though we finished 3rd almost every season and always brought in the top transfer class in the nation.

Seems like with how big the conferences are they should consider expanding all conference teams or maybe add a third team.

They should just add extra players to most positions. QB, kicker and punter would be kind of weird, but every other position is by committee on each team anyway. Players move around because of injuries all the time even on the same team.

Higgins and Noel are both going to surprise people at the next level.

They'll suffer the ISU draft penalty, but will be a real steal for somebody.

C'mon Chiefs!!!

Hunter should have more catches yards and TD's, he plays in a system that almost exclusively throws the ball. They don't even run to kill the clock when they are ahead, they were throwing deep up 45 on an 0-8 team last week, they made an effort give him those numbers every week. Both he and Shadeur are great but their numbers are very deceiving bc of their system. It's built to rack up those numbers.

Higgins is definitely the most reliable pass catcher I have seen come through ISU. He instinctively knows where to be and where the chains are like nobody we've had. Noel isn't bad at all in the same way.

Sigh.

Y’know what? If our guys got totally screwed like this, I guess all of them that can are just going to have to come back next year, and show everyone they didn’t know what they were taking about.

You hear that, Big Citrus and Coop?

(Is it working?)

I suppose injury/downtime had some effect with some of our defensive positions. But ISU should at least have a DB on 1st team.

Also, agree with several posts, team playing in CCG with nobody on first team has to be unprecedented.

You are looking at team stats, while something like this is chosen by people looking at the individual player, not the team as a whole. Can you sit there and say "Orange was one of the best dlineman in the conference or Verdon one of the 4 best DB's in the league?" Both are fine players, but this season neither was the best of the best at their position in the league, and that is what they are looking for.
Being draft eligible would have little to do with this, if the guy can play, that should be evident on the field by his play, his draft eligibility would not matter.
Orange has some times where he dominated, but also missed time. Also, ISUs run defense wasn’t very good, so no. Verdon was great but also missed time.

I understand they are individual awards. But it’s pretty hard to be one of the worst pass defenses in the league and claim you have two of the best DBs in the league.

2 Baylor LBs? Don't recall them being THAT good. There are 3 LBs & 5 DBs on the 1st team - think Porter should have been 1 of the 5. Doesn't seem to be consistent in having porter off but have both KU DB's on considering their poorly rated pass defense.

#1 Defense, 1st place in conference.

One guy on the entire 24 spot ALL Conference team as a kick returner?

If this isn't some bulletin board material I don't know what is. You'd think ISU was 13th and Utah was 1st.
#1 in scoring defense. Not #1 in yards allowed.

If our team needs motivation beyond making the playoff, they are doing it wrong. And I bet Campbell would agree. We are a better team not a bunch of individuals.

At the end of the day, there is only one All Big XII "Team" that matters, and hopefully that will be the Iowa State Cyclones for 2024!

He's a rich man's Xavier Hutchinson. I'd bet the house he'll have a 10 year NFL career if healthy

Jontez and Verdon both had phenomenal years but were arguably the second best player at their positions on the team behind Porter and Freyler.
Porter is our best corner and Freyler is solid but not in Verdon's league. He is a huge glue guy, makes big plays, but can't cover. Verdon, Porter and maybe Orange are the only NFL guys on D
