I think people just see coaches as the ultimate authority figures. Hell, didn't the ames police ask coaches to help break up Veishea riots one year? It's just our culture and how we view coaches.
Yeah, as soon as Matt got the job St. John's became a premiere transfer and JuCo destination. He is good at utilizing his connections and getting high level talent from those ranks and I assume this will hurt St. Johns recruiting there (and Mullins potential tenure) as much as it help will Fred bring a winner to Nebraska soon. I am sure well be hearing Nebby associated with most if not all the top transfers by next week.

I got to know Matt pretty well. He is a very nice guy and charming. He does ride the line of sketchy as crap and playing by the rules in my opinion. I guess I don't understand why so much hate for him. He did a great job and knew Fred was leaving and he left for a job first.
I think this is why. Whether it was from rumors or just the vibe he gave off, I think a lot of fans had the feeling Matt might be the guy that was capable of getting ISU some serious sanctions for recruiting violations.
Honestly it's college basketball though. He never got caught doing anything either. Every college basketball staff has that sketchy type fella. It's pretty standard. You need a guy who is willing to go above and beyond. Matt did that. In fact as far as I know the violations he commited were nothing more than some extra phone calls if he was the one that did do those violations.
Could be since I dont know him, but the overwhelming opinion from most seems to be that he is a dirty recruiter. If you have a different story to tell about Matt A I'd love to hear it.
