Can't blame the guy for bailing in either case. It's one thing to go down with the ship when you have a buyout and millions in the bank.

I don't have good reasons and it is probably a "me" problem, but Matt A. always kind of bugged me. I don't dislike the guy and he seemed like a good enough guy, but he always seemed to like to talk up his targets in a way that you don't normally expect. To me he seemed like more of a member of an entourage than a coach. I was probably just used to TJs style, which was more traditional and professional.

I'm fully convinced Matt A would still be at ISU if Fred stayed. I don't think he ever would have been disloyal to Fred.

“If there’s one job in the world I would leave for, it was St. John’s. It holds a special place in my heart”

That was when St. John's wanted him. Matt see's the writing on the wall that Mullins could be out at St. John's next year and won't be retained.
Smart move, get out before Fred left, recruited transfers at high level, and get back on Fred's new staff before Mullins is asked to leave (and get a pay raise each time).

Matt A did the staffs (extremely) dirty work when it came to recruiting. He would be what most consider a fall guy if **** hit the fan. There was a couple reasons why he left. Part of it came from someone higher up. Also, believe what you want, but because of that reason was why Fred left.

Man this hits all the marks for a good CF post, extremely cryptic, heavy accusations, more please.

I’ll fill in the holes on this one. Matt took off his owl mask at the secret basketball society orgy and ruined the mystery for everyone. Matt had to leave, Fred hates recruiting so he left too.

Is there a statute of limitations on a story that an anonymous poster can put on a free website that won't get ISU in trouble? I heard a story about Abdelmassih once. Can I say it?

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Abdelmassih pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

You have a story about person A and university B? Go for it. I don't see how that would relate to ISU.

Seemed less like veiled shots at leadership and more like veiled compliments of leadership. (Insinuated that leadership wasn't accepting underhanded tactics.)

A lot of people in a fan base (of sports, but really anything) are pretty gung-ho about those kinds of "any means necessary" sorts of tactics. They just experience the benefits of winning, either through short-term elation or long-term memories.

They do not have to face the substantial professional, reputational, and even legal risks that come with bending the rules for a coach, program, or institution, though. Cheat and just win sounds great to some fans; but less good if you are JP seeing some heinous, long-term sanctions coming down on the university (along with getting fired... or worse).

Is this from the FBI wire tap ?
