Purdue gets their guy

Oof. Stings even more seeing that it's real. Would've been a special add. Worst part is not only losing out on him, but also having to play him next season.

Silver lining is we'll essentially get instant feedback on how these options turn out. I'm guessing we won't like the results, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see...Purdue is going to be very good.

Side note: if we couldn't land Cluff given the connections, location, and positional opportunity - I'm not sure we'll ever truly be in the running for a big name transfer financially. Which I suppose is ok given TJ's track record of finding the bargain bin bloomers, but man it's frustrating sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else get the splash signings.

I know many of us wanted Cluff but I am pretty happy Buchanan is a Cyclone.

Blake has as much talent if not more than Oscar. In the end Oscar is more developed thus got the bigger deal but doesn’t mean he’ll be better next year in ISU’s system.

Like you said we will get to see Oscar Vs Blake next 2 year to see if the coaches are right to bet on potential upside over the vet.

Purdue will be good but so will ISU, likely it’ll be a top 15 battle.

Define "stupid money." These kids are reportedly making more than an NBA late-first round draft pick at this point, which is completely insane and not sustainable. I'd rather TJ keep at the moneyball game and find cogs for our system that don't involve 19 yo millionaires.
Eh. If we're going by how good of a basketball player you are, sure, they don't deserve as much money as NBA draft picks. But if we're going by the value they add to their team then the better NCAA players are going to be worth more money than end of the bench guys in the NBA.

Blake isn’t more talented, that’s why we prioritized Cluff. And they both have two years left. We missed. It happens

Purdue with Jacobsen, Cluff, and Kaufman-Renn will be considerably better than Jefferson and Buchanan

Plus Smith, Loyer, and Cox will be one of the top backcourts.

And it’s in West Lafayette

Blake was a top 100 center prospect out of HS and a top 50 portal player. He’s started 22 games in the ACC so should be ready to start in the Big 12. He has talent to be a good center and we know it takes time for bigs to fully realize the potential.

Oscar is rated higher due his production at SDSU, rightfully so, but he did have to transfer down to get those numbers.

I mean with our NIL resources we have to hit on the bargain bloomers. Which is why we're damn lucky to have TJ who is amazing at identifying players that fit his system and have been improving. I don't think we're at the bottom NIL wise but we also aren't going to be competing for too many splashy transfers. I think maybe we had an in here with TJs ties to Hendo so we thought we could take a swing and it didn't work but TJ wasn't caught flat footed and had another option in Buchanan ready to go.

Too bad we couldn’t have gotten Omaha Billiew. By this logic he would be a stud here

Hope it doesn't all go to Rohde.
If it doesn’t, would we get him?

We’re near bottom in spending when it comes to the teams we’re competing with. Imo Rohde is about as good as we’ll get. Past that, Williams and Mulder are the types we can land

Hopefully they also can find a Hogue type that doesn’t cost much but can rebound and defend

We should be a nice, solid team. 6th or 7th in the Big 12, maybe higher if everything falls our way. Toure, Batemon and Pleta top Big 12 freshmen, improvements in Milan and Jefferson. Buchanan much better than his UVa days

So how many roster spots do we have available and what positions do we need to fill with those spots? I'm hoping we can still add a center, preferably an athletic one.

Between the 2 guard spots and the wing, we have Lipsey, Batemon, Toure, Williams, Milan, and Heise. Do we add one more?

We were not the only good P5 teams in on the guys we’ve gotten/will get. It’s not like we’re picking up scraps here to field a team. I’d also bet that we will be higher than 6/7th in the Big 12.
