Is Indiana that much of a better job than Baylor? Baylor is not hurting for money and they don't have the insane expectations that Indiana fans have.

Maybe things have changed since I was a grad student at IU 25 years ago. But the atmosphere at Assembly Hall was very special and Indiana is a rabid basketball state. I've never lived down south, but I imagine SEC interest in football is on par with Indiana's love of hoops.

Their AD should aim high: Hurley, Drew, Few, May, Patino, TJ, Self, etc. Obviously, many of those guys will not be interested in moving at this point in their careers, but Indiana should ask. Never know what's in a coaches mind, the Cyclones found that out with Johnny Orr.

The problem with this is that, barring changes (lol), the collective/NIL benefit as currently constructed goes away after this summer. I’d think a bigger concern would be the revenue sharing budget.

I get the comparison, but IMO football and hoops are entirely different animals in general due to roster size and how that equates to building an elite roster. It only takes 8-10 solid players to build an elite basketball team. And really only 2-3 All-Conference level players to be a Top 10 team. Whereas in football it takes 40+kids that can step on the field and not be over their head, plus 20ish freshman/sophomores that will someday be capable of starter minutes.

Specific to the two schools you reference there are also two specific items:

1. Indiana can build a Top 10 roster just recruiting players from Indiana and its bordering states (Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois). Nebraska can't build a Top 10 program with Nebraska and kids from bordering states. Most perennial top 10 football teams are located in states that produce a high # of P4 recruits.
2. Nebraska's big advantage in the 70/80's was its weight room. They were ahead of the curve and could compliment elite lines with recruits from Texas, California. That advantage will never exist again.

You mean Roids right? I was on the field pregame in the 80's and the Nebraska players were just huge in comparison to ours, like Mark McGuire Sammy Sosa huge.

There have been articles linking devries as a coach of interest. Not sure why. He hasnt excelled at WVU, and the half-season sample doesnt warrant such a bold leap of faith for a blue blood. FWIW, I'd like to keep devries for at least a couple more years to see if he can build a better roster. all of his recruits this year are 4 stars players, so it appears he can recruit talent.

Old school jobs (Ucla, Kansa, Indiana, Kentucky, NC, etc) are not what they used to be. Now everyone can pay players. It's about coaching more than ever - see the Indiana streak.

Auburn, Houston, Alabama, Iowa State, Tennessee, Marquette, etc. are pissing off the old blue bloods.
