I don't know what is typical when a coach leaves. But people probably making too much about DeVries leaving without talking to players.
He was hired by Indiana on March 18. That was spring break and classes didn't start up again until March 24. So if kids were out of town, probably tough to hold a meeting.
He was at WVU for a year. His decision to leave probably ticked off the AD. Once he told WVU he was leaving, would he be allowed back in the basketball facilities?
Heck with the portal & NIL meeting with WVU players while being the IU coach might be construed as the opportunity to tamper by the WVU AD.
Baker's last words to DeVries were probably "Give me your keys and don't let the door hit your a$$"

Took me a minute but then remebered he played in the NBA and not NFL. Ha
