Didn't know where to put this and didn't want to make a whole new thread about it.

Caught the coaches show tonight and listened to part where TJ described every assistants role and what general goes on in standard media timeout huddle.

Was fascinating stuff and would recommend checking it out if you normally don't catch them.
I've been interested in this for a long time. Where can I listen Ruizzz?

Coaches Corner is archived on Cyclones.tv but I think you need a paid subscription (I couldn't see it until I logged in) and even then they don't look to update it very often, most recent posted episode was November 22, 2023.

Get "The Varsity Network" app. Select Iowa state as a favorite. Select "Your Feed", select "On Demand" (vs. Live). They have basically all Learfield sports broadcasts. It's a fantastic way to listen to John and Eric if your out of state.

this is the week they should stumble more than other weeks. At Texas tonight and at KU this weekend.
We'll definitely know a lot more about them after this week. Win both and they are in a really good position to win the BigXII and get a #1 seed.

I'm currently watching Houston v Texas in OT. Texas struggled to score in the first half, then got hot and scored a bunch to take the lead, then went cold again. Houston certainly hasn't played their best - Cryer specifically has been a no show

They are rated #1 at 82.6 adjusted defense. Guess who is rated #2 at 91.1? That is a big gap between 1 and 2. For reference that margin is the difference between #2 and #84 ranked defenses.

This checks out from the eye test as well. Their defense looks historically good. They seem to have a 10-15 minute stretch every game where they just smother the opponent and only allow 1 or 2 field goals.

We have had a FANTASTIC start and it looks even better considering our schedule. But I don't think the regular season conference championship is a serious discussion for us right now. Houston is the overwhelming favorite and I will be a little surprised if they don't win it by multiple games. Texas Tech is really benefitting from a good schedule draw. Would love to see TCU knock them down a notch tonight.

Current Big 12 regular season odds:

Houston -175
ISU +550
Texas Tech +600
KU +1000
TCU +1800
Baylor +2000

I’m on the fence about this. I think Houston could easily get buzzsawed for a week and a half (3 games) at some point coming up. The grind is going to be more real for them than it is for us or KU.

It was fun to watch Texas blow that game multiple times on its home court.

But that hurt Iowa State's chances at the Big 12 title on net.

At Texas was one of the major hurdles Houston still had to go over.

There are others, sure, but the Cows winning last night would have been helpful.
Yep, pretty much rooting for any team with less than 4 losses to get beat while we keep winning.

A potential positive for Iowa State regarding UH beating texas last night: as we see year after year in multiple Texas sports, they are mentally fragile enough to cave when they hit adversity. The loss to UH had to be a heartbreaker for them, and they go to TCU this saturday where they could easily lose by 10+ or lose another close heartbreaker. They could easily come back home next week to face ISU 3-6 in conference, coming off two losses to instate teams that are "little brothers" to them, and mentally checked out.

I was cheering for Houston. I still think our chances at the title are slim.

Texas can go fk off.

If we're serious about beating UH to the conference crown, then what happened in Austin last night was amusing but ultimately counterproductive towards that narrow cause of ours.

We're essentially down one in the loss column to Houston because we still have to play them on their court. They're likely to win that game. Upsets happen, sure, but planning on 2-0 is unrealistic.

So, you need opportunities to pick up games on them elsewhere. Houston losing to Texas before Iowa State rolls into Austin for the last time to beat the Cows would have been a good opportunity.

Counterpoint, if we win out, we’re champs. Simple as that right?

No surprise, ISU maintained its #7 on Parrish's Top 25 (and 1) -- what's funny is, summary of Iowa State's most-recent win is repeated on #8 Kansas blurb. :D

Tre King finished with 21 points and nine rebounds in Saturday's 79-75 win over Kansas. The Cyclones' next game is Saturday at Baylor.--16-4

Parrish has never been to Hilton I wish he would get his ass out of the mid-south. Jerry Lawler left, so can he.
