2019 Personal Goals

I've been working on the first as well. Keep the grocery bags in your car or by the door, easy way to remember them. Use them at Target as well - they give you a little $.05 off for that.

I've been using this type of sandwich/snack bag for work lunch items instead of plastic baggies I would use. Also bring my own silverware now instead of the plastic ones at work.

I pack my lunch every day and use pyrex.

10% bodyfat is like super cut man, I hope you are in your 20s. Enjoy your half a Michelob Ultra every other month!

Man, for some reason I was way off on what 10% looked like. I was thinking that was kinf of a modest goal. I'm still going to stick with it but according to the math, I'm going to look like I weigh about 30 lbs less than I will which has been normal all my life.

The carbs are used mostly to energize my workouts. I try to get carbs from good sources (whole wheat bread, bananas, yogurt)

You can either type the name of whatever you're eating and search for it in their database (like a google search), scan the barcode, or enter it manually. If I go to a restaurant and they don't have the item, I will try looking it up on MyFitnessPal to see if there is something similar or go on google.

I like the IIFYM strategy (macros). It's more lenient than strict dieting, which goes with Clonies point of finding something you will stick with. That and watching what you're eating will work to lose weight. You can use the macros strategy then if you want to get more cut, look for food with lots of micronutrients.

That's what my plan is. I don't care about carbs from something like yogurt or anything that grows. I did listen or read some thing at one point that seems right and I think it was an ultra marathon runner. You can be high fat or high carbs, but you can't be both.

I’m limiting my coffee intake to 3 cups/day. Hopefully will be a fitter, happier, person. I’m also stretching more. Eating less meat.

I also eat 1g of protein per lb I weigh.
I've seen that recent research indicates 1g/lb is overkill. The original studies apparently said something like 0.8-0.85g/lb and in an effort to make it easy (and sell more protien) the rule of thumb rounded it up to 1g. And it usually based on pounds of LEAN mass. Water and body fat don't need any protien.

Interesting I should read up on the most recent research as it has been awhile. Is this for bulking or cutting? Or just in general? I thought I remembered that during a cut it was better to eat a higher amount of protein. It has been so long though that I don't recall if that was actual research or just some bro writing an article.

That was for building lean mass (some of what gets built will be bone and connective tissues besides muscle) while strength training.

First me, as a very fat person, I have to remember to estimate my lean mass before calculating my protien needs. Most people are probably close enough without worrying about it as much. I'm about 200 lb in just lean mass, but I have a ton of extra weight than i don't want to "build" with extra protien. I'm 5'9" and shop in the Big & Tall section if that tells you anything...

I tested out today, was curious to match today to a month ago.

Stats are:
Bench - 190 (+9)
Squats - 206 (same, ate a ton before exercising this day so might retest Monday)
Deadlift - 265 (+15)

I had to miss a week because of the other grandparent had a funeral (my luck). Hopefully no more distractions so I can get these up.

Looks like you passed me but you had more lifting experience than me. At 661. I'll probably just update this post from now on instead of bumping this every month.

Doing decently well on my goals. It’s been 50 days since I’ve had any pop (started before Christmas). I haven’t eaten out for lunch at work all year. Ended up getting a much bigger bonus at work than expected, so that really helps our financial goals.

Haven’t made much progress health wise. Still sitting about the same weight. Polar vortex and tons of snow in MN make it hard to get out and exercise.

Not a real goal because it's hardly ever an issue but was reminded today to make it a point to not go to Starbucks if I just want a coffee.
