2016 Rio Summer Olympics

I do not know the age of the other swimmers in question (though I believe all over 21?)...........but this irks me:

“No apologies from him or the other athletes are needed, said Mario Andrada, a spokesman for the Rio Olympics organizing committee. “These kids were trying to have fun. They came here they represented their country.”“They competed under gigantic pressure,” Mr. Andrada continued. “But let’s give these kids a break. Sometimes you take actions that you later regret.

Lochte, who seems to be somewhat of a ringleader in this - is 32 freaking years old! Not some little kid!
Yeah...but are we talking physically or mentally? Past interviews have led me to believe he's fairly immature. TBH, Michael has done some dumb stuff over the years too, but at least he seems to have grown out of it. Lochte? Not so much.

Absolutely agree. He should be well beyond juvenile crap like that, and even if he isn't then he could have at least owned what he did instead of lying and hijacking the spotlight from athletes who are still competing.

You mean that finding his current GF (a Playboy Playmate) via Tinder is a fairly immature thing?

Louis Zamperini who the book and movie Unbroken is about stole a Nazi flag when he was at the Berlin Olympics. He got busted for it but they let him keep it. But Louis was literally just a kid.

If I'm in the other swimmers' position, I blame Lochte, get out of Brazil, and never look back.

If the whole Brazil police side of story is accurate, it does sound stupid enough to be teenagers out being stupid and the coverup being worse than the activity. However, full grown men who are easily recognizable should know better.

Will give you full grown. Men might be a stretch here

BREAKING: Brazil police official: 2 security guards pointed guns at US Olympic swimmers during gas station confrontation.

Ok then. So here's what I think happened. The swimmers are wasted, need to use the bathroom before making it back to the OV, stop at the gas station. One of them breaks the bathroom door and they try to leave. The manager and security confront them. An argument ensues. The security points their guns at the swimmers, who then give the manager their money to repair the door.

And there's video of them sitting down on the curb like Lochte mentioned.

And then the only reason this becomes a story at all is because he told his mom bad guys pointed a gun at him?

With the likely language barrier, both sides are right? Lochte thinks they get robbed, the gas station thinks they are getting paid back for damage.

That seems to be what is showing up between the various sources.

Several tips for Ryan:
1) Don't get so hammered you have no clue what you're doing
2) After the fact, don't double down on embellishments/errors in your story
3) Don't duck out after being the mouthpiece, leaving your teammates to pay the price

Lochte on the swim of his life escaping the authorities:

Doing their best to revive the image of the Ugly American. :(

Damn, what a bunch of ******** partly spoiling a pretty great Olympics for so many American athletes. What a sad distraction.
