2-10?

After the 1975 season the fans wanted Earle Bruce FIRED for only winning 4 games...........Have we fallen SO LOW that 4 wins is acceptable in Rhoads 7th season...........Now that's really Sad

Thankfully, Earle Bruce was not fired after his third consecutive 4-7 season. Glad we did not listen to those fans.

In none of those years did Earle Bruce finish last in the big 8. In none of those years did he go 0-fer in conference either.

Also there's a big difference between year 3 and year 7

The good news about KU is that it is early. They are a dumpster fire and will still be in three weeks time. If we lose to KU at home (which I agree is NOT a gimmie), then good night Paul.

If KU isn't a gimme, then I don't know what is. To call them the worst team ever assembled by a power five conference program is probably hyperbole but holy crap are they awful. Not only are they not going to win a conference game, I think they'll struggle to keep any conference game within two touchdowns.

Did you happen to notice what they did to us last year?

I don't know what you've been watching for the past 2 years. There are no gimmes for us. Like I said before, we're KU to KU. They're looking at us as one of their few chances for a win the same way we're looking at them like that.

Yea, you're right... lets just sit back and hope Paul Rhoads is the next Earle Bruce. After all, why should we have any sort of urgency for a program that is the front door of our university.

After the KU win I don't see another. 2-10 will not cut it this year will it? Does anyone believe it will?

2 weeks into the season and people are already jumping! Best time of year with college football, let the season play out before assuming!
Assumption if the mother of all F*** ups

Nice start to the day Mr. Optimistic, the clones are a 4-6 win team if all come together and play better than average both ways. Yes, if we win only 2 games and underperform to my expectations CPR will be gone and yes Hawkeyes are not much better than us (if only by their win over us) and should win 6-8 games in the EASY B10 schedule again and CKF will be gone also.

I said we should start 5-0 and struggle to get 2 wins last 7 games, well I'm down to 4-1 and same last 7 games and planning on going BOWLING, how's that for optimism? I rather look at it this way after first 2 games then your way this early.

You could win 5-6 games from what I saw yesterday. Depends on if you rebound from this loss. One of the better ISU teams I've seen in a while. Much improved. If it is only 2 wins, you have problems outside of players and talent.

I think that's exactly what worries most of the negative posters here. With the way this team has played the last couple of years, I don't think our only issues are with the players and their talent level. For me, it's mainly development. It's difficult to look at many of the returning players we have and say they are vastly improved over last year or the year before. Especially in the QB area.

Yea, Lanning is not the answer now or in the future. Worse, we don't have the answer at QB on the roster.

I'd like to see that statement proven on the field. You may very well be right but we have mountains of evidence that SR isn't the answer so what's the harm in trying? Another 2 win season? Noooooooooooooooo

Sam isn't great I'll give you that. He is not terrible either. He has not been the problem the last two years. It's a team sport. Put a Boykin on this team and do you really think we would be that much better. Maybe he gets us an extra win a year, possibly 2. So were still a none bowl team. The problems are so much greater than that. Sam is a solid college QB. However if we are 1-4 after the first five games we I'm all for seeing what Lanning had got for next year.

I'll take two of what the gentleman on the floor is having.

So basically what you're saying is that if we could win another game this year with a QB switch it isn't worth it because Sam is a good guy and a 5th year? That pretty much encapsulates this program and the majority of the fanbase right now.

Because we never have been. College football is all about the haves and have nots. More teams drop out of the have category than join it. Almost nobody steps up to become a have.

In the last fifty or so years the only "step-ups" that come to mind are Florida State and Boise State (at one time a JUCO).
