2-10?

I don't think ISU is a bad team this year. Lots of hyperbole due to the sting of the recent loss. Iowa might be a pretty damn good team this year.

I have a tendency to pay attention to the present and future. I do pay attention to the past, but only to use for guidance. I'd suggest you do the same. We both have games next week. Yesterday, and especially last season don't have much to do with this.

This is why I used the word prediction. I didn't talk about last season. I think you're over reacting. I also think you're trying to insult Iowa's football team. That might not be misplaced, but usually when an opponent's fans comes on your message board, and posts several positives in an objective way for your team, it's not best met with an insult. Doesn't work in football. Or the scorecard in life called net worth and pay check. That's been my experience any way.

A lot of football left to be played. No guarantees for either team. Both need to go and play games.

Good day.

Yes, I'm serious. Iowa would be 7th or 8th in the Big 12. You went 7-5 last year against a schedule where your average weekly opponent was the equivalent of Kansas.

Lol. I know you're ****** you lost to Iowa, but every team we played last year was better than Kansas. Easy on the hyperbole, rux.

Golfer, I'm not trying to insult you or your team. I appreciate the tone of your posts and that you're not coming here to talk trash.

I live in a house divided and I am not a hater. That said, it is my firm belief that Iowa would be a lower-tier Big 12 football team. I am sorry that belief offends you and I am open to the possibility I am wrong. But I'm certainly not saying what I'm saying for the purpose of offending you.

I think this year's Iowa team will be much improved over last year's primarily due to the fact that we *appear* to have a competent passing and running game, which we lacked most of last season. Our defense was also bad last season so even small improvements on that side of the ball should lead to an extra win or two. Our receivers are pretty much never good so that's a wash. The Ott injury could definitely hurt on the defensive side of the ball, but hopefully he won't be out a long time. When we get Duzey back our offense should click better as well. Just my 2 cents.

OK, I misread it then. I'll be back at the end of the season to hopefully prove the 2 win predictions as laughable. ISU overperforms this year. If they don't, at that point I'd need to consider coaching and culture. ISU has talent on the field. I think I'm objective, and I think this year's ISU team is significantly better than last year's version. Significantly. Granted, it's only game 2, and I maintain no one knows anything until the first week of October, but as of yesterday, this is what I saw and what I think.

I hope that you're right and I'm wrong. I agree that ISU has upgraded talent. What I still haven't seen is a team that will fight through adversity under CPR. When times get tough, CPRs teams tend to give up. A win next week and I'll be significantly encouraged. But I've seen too many ISU teams give up after a late-game collapse like that and until I see something different I'm not buying into the so-called culture change.

Iowa will win 10 games but will be somewhere between mediocre and decent.

There are no guaranteed W's left. I'm amazed at how people block out reality talking about "I see only 3 games that aren't winnable" ya well, even if true that also means they are losable, and what is more likely to happen? Who will be favored in those "winnable" games. I hope everyone is happy with the sportsmanship award and the "Played to Compete" trophy at the end of the year.

ISU will outperform this season. That is my predication after game #2. A risky prediction, as they all are until the first week of October. But that I how I see it after yesterday. Going against conventional wisdom, Iowa's secondary is very, very good. The performance of your receivers and ability of the q.b. were positives for you. The receivers made some catches while blanketed.

Your o line has some fundamental issues. Presumably these can be corrected by coaching. Mostly wrong leg blocked on numerous occasions allowing Iowa to seal the corner on width schemes. Outside leg on these. That is coachable. Highly correctable.

Is that four wins then? Iowa's secondary is not that good. Gimme a break.Your dline won the game.

Same old problem that coaches said was fixed. This team is still a lot like last year's team after the hype.
Doesn't matter what pace the offense plays at. Running on first down does not work for us. We run like we are hitting the maginot Line. We need to run around that line. That said Laik hikes a great ball to SR. Rhoads is doing fairly well snapping too.

From my perspective, I'm going to move forward to the Pittsburgh game. I'll try to remember to come back here after this season is over, because my instinct is that some of you all are going to be surprised about how ISU performs this year. This is predicated on flushing yesterday, and moving on, which I think you'll do. You're clearly better this year than last. At this point anyway.

Agreed, but last year they might have been the worst power 5 team in the country. They need to be greatly improved to win 5-6 games. They will likely be favored in one more, 2 tops.

I'm betting Toledo will be a very slight favorite next week. I think we'll be favored over KU, but that's probably it.

The ISU offense I have seen in the past two games will not be able to score enough points/sustain enough drives to win another game this year. The defense will need to come up with some scoring plays, or take-aways DEEP in the opponent's territory for us to eke out a win against a couple of mediocre to poor teams left on our schedule (including KU). The biggest fear I have is that the defense will start getting tired of covering our inept offense's behinds and then they start to give up as well.

I think we have a great chance to win any or all of the next three. Also, IMHO, maybe the Big 12 is down a bit. TCU was fortunate against Minn which is probably on an Iowa level. Texas looks really bad, though I'm sure talented and should get better.
Iowa looked pretty solid to me and we were within 6 late. There is plenty of time for doom and gloom if called for. We are 1-1 and probably where we should be record wise. Let's lighten up.

I thought our ceiling was 6. So now I'm thinking 5. Best guess is 4. Safe bet is 3.

This seems about right. So what does that do for the coaching staff? I'm still hoping for a great year, but it's still wait and see, just like after week 1.
