I don't think ISU is a bad team this year. Lots of hyperbole due to the sting of the recent loss. Iowa might be a pretty damn good team this year.

Yes, I'm serious. Iowa would be 7th or 8th in the Big 12. You went 7-5 last year against a schedule where your average weekly opponent was the equivalent of Kansas.
Golfer, I'm not trying to insult you or your team. I appreciate the tone of your posts and that you're not coming here to talk trash.I have a tendency to pay attention to the present and future. I do pay attention to the past, but only to use for guidance. I'd suggest you do the same. We both have games next week. Yesterday, and especially last season don't have much to do with this.
This is why I used the word prediction. I didn't talk about last season. I think you're over reacting. I also think you're trying to insult Iowa's football team. That might not be misplaced, but usually when an opponent's fans comes on your message board, and posts several positives in an objective way for your team, it's not best met with an insult. Doesn't work in football. Or the scorecard in life called net worth and pay check. That's been my experience any way.
A lot of football left to be played. No guarantees for either team. Both need to go and play games.
Good day.

I live in a house divided and I am not a hater. That said, it is my firm belief that Iowa would be a lower-tier Big 12 football team. I am sorry that belief offends you and I am open to the possibility I am wrong. But I'm certainly not saying what I'm saying for the purpose of offending you.
I hope that you're right and I'm wrong. I agree that ISU has upgraded talent. What I still haven't seen is a team that will fight through adversity under CPR. When times get tough, CPRs teams tend to give up. A win next week and I'll be significantly encouraged. But I've seen too many ISU teams give up after a late-game collapse like that and until I see something different I'm not buying into the so-called culture change.OK, I misread it then. I'll be back at the end of the season to hopefully prove the 2 win predictions as laughable. ISU overperforms this year. If they don't, at that point I'd need to consider coaching and culture. ISU has talent on the field. I think I'm objective, and I think this year's ISU team is significantly better than last year's version. Significantly. Granted, it's only game 2, and I maintain no one knows anything until the first week of October, but as of yesterday, this is what I saw and what I think.

And get 30 pointed by an 8 win team in a bowl game.Iowa will win 10 games but will be somewhere between mediocre and decent.
ISU will outperform this season. That is my predication after game #2. A risky prediction, as they all are until the first week of October. But that I how I see it after yesterday. Going against conventional wisdom, Iowa's secondary is very, very good. The performance of your receivers and ability of the q.b. were positives for you. The receivers made some catches while blanketed.
Your o line has some fundamental issues. Presumably these can be corrected by coaching. Mostly wrong leg blocked on numerous occasions allowing Iowa to seal the corner on width schemes. Outside leg on these. That is coachable. Highly correctable.
Same old problem that coaches said was fixed. This team is still a lot like last year's team after the hype.I hope that you're right and I'm wrong. I agree that ISU has upgraded talent. From my perspective, I'm going to move forward to the Pittsburgh game. I'll try to remember to come back here after this season is over, because my instinct is that some of you all are going to be surprised about how ISU performs this year. This is predicated on flushing yesterday, and moving on, which I think you'll do. You're clearly better this year than last. At this point anyway.
Agreed, but last year they might have been the worst power 5 team in the country. They need to be greatly improved to win 5-6 games. They will likely be favored in one more, 2 tops.
I thought our ceiling was 6. So now I'm thinking 5. Best guess is 4. Safe bet is 3.
