South Dakota Pregame Thread

I'm getting visions of the 2018 game vs Will Greier and top 10 west virginia. The secondary locked down the back end and we ended up with 7 sacks
I could be wrong, but I get the sense that at that point Big 12 spread offenses couldn't really be stopped. It was a frenetic game of winning the turnover battle and outscoring your opponent. Since then offenses have figured out you need to approach our 3-3-5 stack with a more patient, balanced attack.

Did you know that this is the second time the Yotes have opened their football season in Ames? Here is what happened the first time, 72 years ago:

The game was played at Clyde Williams field. How many here ever attended a game there?
I attended quite a few games at Clyde Williams. Especially remember the 23-23 tie with Nebraska when Tom Goedjon (sp) missed the extra point.

Ike Harris, Willie Jones, George Admunson, Keith Krepfle, etc.

Iowa State's success in football is still so new to even native Iowans.....any sort of success that McCarney and Rhoads had didn't last....Campbell's success has lasted much longer, aside from the 2022 season.

Iowa has had a consistent program with two HC's combining for over 45 years of coaching. It's essentially like having two Bill Snyder's in back to back tenures.

I do think that more kids are growing up to be Iowa State fans. I went to a small school in Boone and even though my class size was like 25 kids, I was one of maybe 4 that would wear Iowa State on the Friday before the CyHawk game. The casual interest still leans Iowa but even judging from shirts you see at the State Fair (not an entirely great metric but Iowans come from all over for the fair), Iowa State is closing that gap.
I would've thought Boone, being only 10-15 miles from Ames, would be heavily Cyclone country.
