In Memoriam: Ames Business/Restaurants

This maybe a repeat but was just in Cy’s Roost about a month ago and it is an absolute tragedy what they’ve done to it since the 80’s. Why even keep the name. No character sh*thole now.
Seeing videos from Ames through various Iowa State accounts, it's wild the slop that students are willing to live in. No judgment, I was the same way. But those bars are so ******.

Missing Cocost today :(
So I was working at Kingland when they shut down and someone was there getting the equipment (fryers, stoves, etc.) out of the building.... It was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen.

I still didn't care because god damn was the food good.

This just came up in a conversation with my 83 year old mother, but does anyone remember the Holiday Gas Station on Lincoln way? I think it's a pawn shop now, but waaayyyy back in the day that station was a fisherman's place to go. Live bait, cheap beer, their own brand of soda for like $0.05/can, lures, rods, etc.

The old outside bathrooms on the west side of the building...

Certainly, also for affordable hunting gear such as shotgun shells. Also, bought some cheap styrofoam duck decoys.

I hope something decent will stick there. There really isn't anything on the west side of Ames.
I mean...the formula is simple. Find a niche the market calls for and be ******* awesome at it.

Execution...well that's another battle.

Based upon some Facebook sleuthing, it appears to be another mexican themed restaurant. They're becoming about as bad as auto parts and mattress stores.

Was really hoping for another solid sports bar that could replace WTP. Basically down to just Boulder and BWW in town now and neither of those really move the needle.

Exactly basically just recreate something like WTP, get a solid menu, tvs, beers. Boom

Wallaby's, Sweet Caroline's?

I watch a lot of sporting events at El Azteca.
