You keep citing Maryland having a ton of money. As recent as the 2022/23 fiscal year, the MD athletic department was last in the Big10 and behind Iowa State in revenue.

I am sure they got a nice bump starting in 2023, but would think they are still last in the Big10 in revenue.

A&M has top 10 revenues among all athletic departments, so its more about a willingness to fund sports at crazy levels vs. trying to find the money like at MD.
If Maryland had money, Willard would have stayed.

Maryland can’t compete in football.

But because of that, they could spend a lot of the $20 million cap on basketball. Knowing that bad football on $5 million in salary is better ROI than bad football on $13 million in salary. Unlike most, they can count on BIG revenue to offset punting in football

A&M will want to keep up with UT in football

Assuming the addition of Rohde we've added 4 white guys this offseason to go with one already in the starting lineup. Are we becoming Iowa?? Did Fran somehow leak into our program after he got canned?? The exciting whites are here! Kidding. Sort of...

Would be lying if I said I'm not just a little concerned about the defensive pressure successfully returning from 2-3 seasons ago. I'll wait to hopefully be pleasantly surprised. Although a lot of TJ's defensive scheme relies on being in the right position, and good anticipation. Hopefully with a lack of raw athleticism across the roster, they can excel in those areas.

Curious as to why you think this? The Dodgers just buying all the good players now?

Even with the Dodgers and Yankees outspending it still seems pretty competitive to me. Texas is a small market team and just won the World Series 2 years ago.
Texas is NOT a small market team. 4th largest metro population.

Ha I mean you can move the goalpost to blame it on whatever you want. Sure, go for age as an excuse. Offensive schemes aren't unlocked like some sort of prize once you reach a certain age or experience level of coaching. They have entire staffs to work on these things. I'm sure TJ would admit himself that they needed to be better in the halfcourt offense.

Suggesting they need to improve the halfcourt offense isn't a hater take - it's honest. It's ok to say things need to get better. You can in-fact still be a fan, and understand not everything is rainbows and butterflies.

Need a guy to be able to break down a defense consistently, 2 would be even better

Athletic departments make money from other than TV. They could spend a disproportionate amount on basketball NIL, but my guess is the AD figures MD needs to be competitive in football to keep 40k people coming to the stadium on Saturdays and making their Terrapin Club donations.

The reality is 40k attendance stinks. Grow that to 50k or 60k fans in the stands is big money. There was a time when Iowa State struggled to get 40k fans to football games. We are now averaging around 60k. While MD probably can't win National Titles in College Football, their goal is probably a consistent top 25 team. Really no different than Iowa or Iowa State.

So the AD is probably balancing their NIL $ between hoops & football and trying to be competitive with other Big 10 teams in both sports.

Can we enforce some kind of screening process for these "New Members" that keep popping up in the transfer threads? Like, spell one of the following:
- Coach Paul R____
- K_____ Gilbert
- Jamarion Bate___

I'm a bit skeptical of their Cyclone fandom...
What about Ja_ Ku__

Without looking, I'm not sure I could spell any of those names correctly. I could get close.

OK, maybe a spelling screen isn't the best choice. How about this: if you don't view signing a replacement President in the portal a win, GTFO!
I hope Buchanan's jersey number is 15....
Can't change Jefferson's since he's the 2 dollar bill president.

I don't think it would be a big deal if we don't get another guard, because I think the two freshmen will be ready to go. We basically had 3 guards playing this year - Lipsey, Gilbert and CuJo, and Heise I guess is a guard/wing. Williams, Batemon and Toure, along with Lipsey and Heise will be a solid backcourt, imo.

I'm worried about the big guys. Need to add an athletic rim protector if we can find one.

I’d expect he will be looking to prove something. We typically get more out of guys that have a chip.

If improving the Buchanan legacy doesn't qualify as a President's chip, then IDK what does!
