*** Official Texas Tech vs #11 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Tech still had at least 1 TO if I remember right so I doubt it would have changed their strategy.
True, they had 2 timeouts and I think if we accepted the 10 second runoff then Tech would have chosen to burn a timeout to avoid it. If they didn't take a TO, then the clock would have started on the ready. Either way it might have at least changed their play call to passing instead of running the wildcat with either 28 seconds left with 1 TO, or 18 seconds with 2 TOs and a running clock.

Also, how on earth do we come back from the bye week with more injuries than we went into it with? For what it’s worth, I never saw Brezina in there today even though he was announced as a starter. Brahmer still on crutches also doesn’t exactly inspire confidence

I knew it would be bad. But I'm surprised a bit at how bad.

When you are on a streak like we were, a loss is going to ******* hurt. I've been telling people that I wasn't going to regret getting excited about the team even after they eventually lost. And I'm not. But, I was still pretty devastated.
never expected to go undefeated but didn’t expect to lose to this tech team at home.

I wasn't able to see much of the game today...how were the fans? Was it loud? From what little I saw they seemed subdued.

It was kind of a crappy game. Never really got the momentum and it was raining. Not our best crowd. Not our worst.

We aren’t a good enough program to let this wet field constantly be a factor. I know it affects both teams, but we need to make the move to turf and be done with the slip and falls leading to blown plays on both sides of the ball

Not blaming the defense for this loss, but how did tech get receivers downfield on the final drive that were single covered against a 3 man front? 8 guys in coverage and we have a guy on an island somehow. Maybe it’s just scheme that mouser cant seem to find

The one complaint I have on Heacock’s defense is when we sit back in coverage at the end of the halves it consistently gets picked apart. Pretty sure that’s exactly what happened on the last drive. The game should have been over with that 4th and 7. Not to mention we had them 1st and 15 and then let Brooks get all of it in one play.

But I have a hard time faulting the defense because when you rely on them to get stops and win you games week after week at some point they’re gonna give up a score

As the old saying goes, all a Prevent Defense does is Prevent a win.

Total team loss. Nobody played good.
Probably biggest negative was the offense - few points against a very bad defense. Rocco and the OL were bad.
Defense could not get a stop when the chips were on the line. They also got behind our defense several times on deep balls that were overthrown.

Back to artificial turf now, is it? Many advantages to natural grass. One being that players I think prefer it, safety, etc.

Is the thinking that turf is better than grass now, in terms of the number of positives? I didn't know that. I can see the grass being more of a problem later in the year. Is that so bad that we should go with turf now?

We just put the money in for the hybrid grass for pete's sake.

Obviously disappointing, more so because this is one that we win 9/10 when the defense plays the way that they did. Offense just had too many mistakes, and I didn't care for the play calling when we got on their side of the field. This is a really, really good football team, but they don't have a huge margin for error either. I think we'll see some serious focus next weekend. Go Cyclones
