Seems real. I mean, Dr. Doom does wear a mask because his face is disfigured, so they could just get away with it that way. Or they could do some multi-verse fuckery and say Tony Stark becomes Dr. Doom in an alternate universe.
So I read a bit into a more obscure comic story from years ago where Tony Stark and Victor switch bodies in an experiment and Victor becomes successful living Tony Starks life with access to the tech and funding he needs to dominate the world. Tony is stuck in Victors body as basically a nobody and has no recollection of who he truly is. Its an intriguing take, but in order to pull this off, they still need to cast a Victor.

Yeah we just disagree. I think First Class is easily better than half the MCU movies and MCU fans typically act like its's some horrible movie.

Counting Deadpool & Wolverine I really love 8 X-Men movies (Xmen, X2, 1st Class, DoFP, Logan, Deadpool x3) and I really love about 9 MCU movies total (GotG x3, Iron Man, Infinity War, Spidey x3, Ragnarok)...then it's who has more low quality dead weight which MCU has been piling up a lot lately. I thought Black Panther was just OK and Wakanda was bad. I think Loki is unwatchable, unless it gets wildly better after four episodes when I quit. The 90s Fox X-Men series was way better than the MCU streaming stuff even before they rebooted it.

I think it's hilarious people think Avengers/Age of Ultron are better movies than X-Men or X2.

I think a lot of it born out of the third X-Men movie being just utter trash where MCU slowly built with more consistency. The fact that more people watched a leaked advanced copy of Wolverine without special effects than watched it in theaters didn't help, it's also just a so-so movie with the weird retconned Deadpool.

I have a closet full of Marvel comic long boxes, I have absolutely no bias towards MCU over the other Marvel movies. I do have some bias of liking Marvel more than DC. I have a bunch of old Morbius comics but I'm not pretending that was good.

I love First Class. I think that’s the best X-Men movie by far. I agree X-Men ‘97 is the best Disney+ streaming show and for me it’s not close.

I mean this sincerely, I’ll never watch the 90s X-Men movies again. I tried watching them with my super hero obsessed kids and they couldn’t make it far at all. I’m not going to say they are bad, but for example the Blade movies I think are better.

I recently rewatched all of the first 3 (first one came out in 2000 BTW, so not really 90's movies) and Wolverine Origins. I had intended to rewatch all of the X-Men movies prior to Deadpool 3, but got busy with other things.

X-Men is dated by it's look. Story is fine
X2 is visually much better than the first and the story is much better. Top 3 of the X-team movies .
X3 - massive dud, a couple of emotional beats that attempt to make us care.
Wolverine Origins - Not great, especially the ending, but there are some fun things in it.
First Class - Really good movie, but honestly not as keen on Mystique as a hero as some are.
The Wolverine - It's fine, have only watched it once or twice.
DoFP - By far my favorite of the mainline X-team movies, but we can't get to this one without all the others.
Apocalypse - This movie exists
Dark Phoenix - This movie shouldn't.
Logan - Incredible movie
New Mutants - not completely horrible, decent enough for a Saturday afternoon watch.
Deadpool 1-3 - Pitch perfect for what they were trying to do even if the movies weren't perfect. The most rewatchable of the entire franchise.

So out of 14 movies, at least half are good to great, a couple more are at least watchable, and some clear bad movies. That's not far off of the average for the MCU movies to me.

So, RDJ is getting $80M for Avengers Doomsday. The most he’s been paid for any Marvel appearance.

WOW.

“Say, Robert? I mean…Mr. Downey, Sir? We need you to save this whole thing. How’s $80 mil sound?”

I can't imagine what that budget for that film is going to balloon too once the other stars they will involve will want big paychecks as well. That is a lot of money spent even before any footage is captured.

I wasn't expecting to LOL while reading through your list, but this sequence got me. Good stuff

Finally saw Deadpool and Wolverine. Im
A big X-Men fan and I loved it. As others said, the plot didn’t really make a ton of sense, but in a way it did, since there wasn’t really a 4th wall in the movie. It was more of a nod to all the Fox superheroes and the road they paved for Marvel.

I think the X-Men movies definitely had some clunkers (X3, Wolverine Origins, Apocalypse), but they also took a LOT more risks. I love the MCU, but no way would they have ever made a Logan or a Deadpool. And Days of Future Past was a great movie, that did the whole Multiverse thing a lot more effectively than the MCU has (except for Spidey 3).

Also, there is no MCU without the success of the original X-Men. And the opening scene to X2 is still one of the best comic book action scenes around.

Ouch

Hopefully that means they're still helming Beyond the Spider-verse. That's all I care about. Bring the Spider-verse trilogy to a nice conclusion.

Deadpool and Wolverine was so good. I mean, it didn't take itself seriously and that's fine...that's Deadpool for you. It was just fun.

I think X-Men 97 is great, but some of that is probably nostalgia from watching the old X-Men cartoon. I feel like the best D+ streaming show has been Andor, but SW isn't for everyone.

All I’m saying is Robert Downey, Jr might just end up being the real life version of Tony Stark before all is said and done.

I'm not sure RDJ playing Tony Stark qualifies as "acting."

A generational talent in his field held back by alcoholism/drugs and an erratic, caustic personality who slowly has to learn to conquer his demons, be kind to those around him, and realize his potential...?

Not sure which one of them I'm talking about...

Can’t argue with that :D

You know how there are method actors...?

I call this one the "George Clooney."

That is...

George Clooney always plays a suave and wiseass "handsome devil" who thinks he can talk his way out of anything and is always two steps ahead of the competition.

Sort of like... George Clooney.

Rob Lowe is also good at playing Rob Lowe
