I love First Class. I think that’s the best X-Men movie by far. I agree X-Men ‘97 is the best Disney+ streaming show and for me it’s not close.
I mean this sincerely, I’ll never watch the 90s X-Men movies again. I tried watching them with my super hero obsessed kids and they couldn’t make it far at all. I’m not going to say they are bad, but for example the Blade movies I think are better.
I recently rewatched all of the first 3 (first one came out in 2000 BTW, so not really 90's movies) and Wolverine Origins. I had intended to rewatch all of the X-Men movies prior to Deadpool 3, but got busy with other things.
X-Men is dated by it's look. Story is fine
X2 is visually much better than the first and the story is much better. Top 3 of the X-team movies .
X3 - massive dud, a couple of emotional beats that attempt to make us care.
Wolverine Origins - Not great, especially the ending, but there are some fun things in it.
First Class - Really good movie, but honestly not as keen on Mystique as a hero as some are.
The Wolverine - It's fine, have only watched it once or twice.
DoFP - By far my favorite of the mainline X-team movies, but we can't get to this one without all the others.
Apocalypse - This movie exists
Dark Phoenix - This movie shouldn't.
Logan - Incredible movie
New Mutants - not completely horrible, decent enough for a Saturday afternoon watch.
Deadpool 1-3 - Pitch perfect for what they were trying to do even if the movies weren't perfect. The most rewatchable of the entire franchise.
So out of 14 movies, at least half are good to great, a couple more are at least watchable, and some clear bad movies. That's not far off of the average for the MCU movies to me.
