House of the Dragon

Wasn't expecting a repeat of last week but tonight's episode was a bit of a snoozer for me.

It seems they are following the last couple of seasons of GoT. One great episode with action, one not so much.

A lot of table setting, but not a whole lot of substance. Other than Aemond being named ruler in Aegon’s stead.

One thing that confused me, they kept saying Aemond is next in line. But doesn’t Aegon have a second son (after the first was murdered in episode 1)?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he had one son and one daughter at the time the son was killed.

You're correct. It's a change from the book in which Aegon has two sons and a daughter.
Gotcha. So I’m getting confused with the book then. It also makes a lot more sense now that Aemond took out Aegon at the Battle of Rook’s Rest last week.

What kind of confused me about Aemond assuming regency is that in GoT, when Robert Baratheon gets gored by the boar and his health waivers, Ned Stark rules in his stead as hand of the king. By this logic, shouldn't Ser Criston served as regent king as the current hand to Aegon?

I do realize that once Robert officially died, his brothers Stannis and Renly both fought for the throne, but it wasn't until he was actually dead. So Aegon not being actually dead at this moment in time, seems like the exact same scenario just with a different result.

I believe SilverWing is also there?
There are potentially some additional ones, depending on how close they stick to the source material. They've already changed the location of one of them, so the rest might not be included at all.

House of the Dragon has made me temporarily forget about the GOT Season 8 debacle.. Just a complete masterclass of a show
Better yes, but still too much bad decision making all around by leaders of both sides. Also feels like the Blacks are going to get bailed out by deus ex machina when it comes to getting more dragons.
