Especially if we both get put in the west. That would make the fan aspect of the site moot.

We would destroy Nebby. They’re the epitome of a Fred team. Great offense as long as they’re not being guarded tightly. No defense to speak of. Once Illinois put the clamps on Nebraska couldn’t do anything right yesterday.

They were bad yesterday but are 29th in D on Kenpom on the season so they're not bad overall.

In a series give me ISU but in a one game situation in Omaha no thanks along with all of the 'see what could have been!?' takes from a few if Nebraska were to pull it off.

Disagree on destroying nebby...their 3 pointers and swinging far side is byu style
Watched the game yesterday and their offensive ball movement and spacing could give anyone troubles. I don’t think they’re awesome and their defense left a lot to the imagination.

Because wins have to count for somenting at some point. Playing good teams and losing, then beating up on a bunch of terrible Big 10 teams doesn't do much for me but go ahead and support them I guess.

That's what Indiana State did. Just sub in Missouri Valley for Big 10. Oklahoma at least beat Iowa State and BYU. Indiana State beat Drake.

Yep it's a bad metric, and even from the perspective of it supposedly being a goal of the NCAA to encourage better non-conference matchups, it doesn't really achieve that stated purpose. Buy games are buy games and those are bad teams for everyone. Most of the actual strength in most teams non-conference schedules comes from neutral site tournaments scheduled years in advance and determined in large part based on prestige. Programs have little to no control over this portion of their schedule, and even when they do it's unpredictable. Texas a&m was supposed to be good. Virginia tech was considered a possible tournament team. Iowa and the Big East challenge should have added two more power five games, but Iowa underperformed compared to where they have the last several years and we were given garbage by the Big East. How exactly is overvaluing this crappy metric supposed to change any of that?
I don't think this would be talked about if our noncon schedule would have been flip flopped with UNC. Really the only thing the national media's got favoring a blue blood. They'll make a bs decision on this metric and we'll have to accept it as a rational argument which it's not.

It's dumb, but it's an argument that a lot of people are willing to accept unfortunately. It's why I don't have much hope for a 1 tomorrow. The selection committee let us know they were going to hit us for the non-con with their mid-season seedings. So instead of a 1 we will most likely get a 2, which will still be amazing.

The group of three conferences should get a penalty going forward for weak conference schedules if power 2 basketball gets knocked for non conf.

Kansas was available, UConn was available, Arizona was available, Houston was available. Big Ten and SEC said they were fine with an inferior basketball product…if we’re penalized for non conference t hey should all be penalized for their conference having no depth and a total joke bottom half.

I actually hear ISU fans on this site say this “Big Ten and SEC teams can’t control their weak conference schedules, we can control our non conf”. They control EVERYBODY’s conference schedules completely and they chose to make the Big 12 the best basketball conference by light years and leave their own conferences as “meh” because of football. This is all crystal clear and our league/programs/fans need to win war of language on it.

So they beat 2 tournament teams all season? That's a classic NIT resume.

At least Indiana State won 8 more games and is rated higher now on Torvick. It's just the age old question of whether you prefer mid-major teams that won alot of games, or middling teams in Power conferences.

That bid has already been stolen. Dayton was the only AL in that league. Same with the AAC though I'm not as convinced that FAU is as safe as some people do.

You know, I like FAU; they were an amazing story last season and were a legit damn good team. Dusty May is a great coach and seems like a great dude, and I love that they were able to keep their whole roster together for this season, especially in the age of the portal and NIL.

But objectively I really don't know how safe they should be. They do have some great non-con wins versus Arizona and a thorough a$$-kicking of Tx. A&M, but they have also lost some real head scratchers and it seems like they have routinely played down to their level of competition. They had absolutely no business losing to an under .500 Temple team yesterday. None. Zip. Zilch. Zero.

I hope they make it, as they probably did just enough, but I won't feel too bad for them if they get sent to Dayton.
