This is something I've never understood. Why do they do this?

For vehicles with a large turn radius (like trucks) it’s a lot easier to back in to spots than it is to pull. To pull into a spot straight, you have to turn very wide, which is not an option in most parking lots. Go push a cart around with front wheel vs rear wheel steering and you’ll understand.

Any hybrid SUV's, that you recommend also fit three car seats across the middle bench?

My research seems to be pointing to a Honda Passport (Large trunk, spacious 2nd row, not a tank like full-size SUV's, we already have a van for nights and weekends) but wondering if there is a hybrid option as I don't drive a ton of miles, so I'm a great candidate for plug-in or electric options.

Really want the safest, smallest vehicle I can get that also fits 3 car seats across.
We really like our Rav4 hybrid. I know a couple people with highlanders that really like them.

Preferably somewhere in the back 40 since you chose to have too big of a vehicle.
For the record I’ve never owned a large vehicle. I did live in Texas for a while so I’ve been around my share of oversized trucks and being able to get deeper into the parking place is one of the reasons I heard for backing in.

R2, R3, and R3X reveled today. I put in a deposit for an R2.

Outstanding presentation today.

Look like something I would be interested in(R3). I'm a little surprised by the date though.

R2 will be 1H 2026. R3 after that. They're pausing the GA plant build for now, to focus on using the space at the facility in Normal, IL.

They lost billions before turning profitable in 2020. This is well known. They almost went bankrupt in 2018.

I can fit 3 across in my Accord, so I'm guessing a CRV would do it as well. Might need to buy some of the specific narrower 3 across car seats though.

So it looks like Tesla lost around $7B over like 11 years before becoming profitable, while Rivian has lost something like $18B in ~5 years? Is that right?

Looks correct, they both lost money and Tesla only recently became profitable.
