One thing I will say I didn’t like about Guardians 3, that seems to go against the masses, is the soundtrack. Very weak imo. Nothing will ever top the surprise bops they brought out in Guardians 1, but I feel they missed the marked on this one.

I was a huge fan of the soundtrack in this one, but I already have a huge bias since most of these songs are in my regular playlist already.

Opening the movie with Radiohead especially. I know it’s “Creep” but I love that song anyway and once it started playing I couldn’t help but sing quietly along in the theater.

Finally saw GOTG3 tonight. I'll admit I found the first 2/3 of the movie to be a bit aimless and the jokes didn't land as much as I would have liked. When the movie in general is as dark as this one, if the jokes aren't landing, it can at times feel like a bit of a slog, which it did. It also didn't help that this movie was needlessly about 20 minutes too long in my mind, which added to the aimlessness. With that said, now that I've got the negatives out of the way, I found the last third of the movie to be fantastic, funny, and exactly what I wanted from this movie all along. What made the ending so good was how fitting it was for a conclusion to the trilogy. I feel satisfied. Saw the movie in 3D, and while I would say it only marginally enhanced this movie for the majority of the movie, the third act ensemble fight scene was maybe as good of a 3D fight sequence as I've seen, with all the unique camera angles and rotations. It made that scene twice as fun as it already was.

With all that said, that third act was good enough to make this movie as a whole a positive good movie for me, but not top-tier MCU and not the best Guardians movie either. That title is still reserved for the first one. The second Guardians movie is also probably consistently better than this one, but the highs of this movie far exceed anything in the second one. The net effect of those two movies probably puts them on somewhat equal footing.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. The movie was generally a lot darker, scarier, sadder and less funny than I would have guessed. Not all of that is bad. I maybe made the mistake of taking both my 6 and 9 year old daughters to this one with me, and while they both love the other Guardians movies, I could tell this was a bit much for them. They still had fun, but I'm pretty sure they were generally terrified for a lot of the movie, which made it last in their Guardians movie rankings.

I said that to my better half...that if the rest of the movie was as good as the last 30 minutes I would have likely loved it.

I also found Adam Warlock to be a general waste in this movie. I really didn't even like his character at all.

I have to agree, that last sequence set to No Sleep Til Brooklyn was one of the best fight scenes in the entire MCU. My SO and I looked at each other and mouthed “BAD. ASS.”

lol same. on the way home i was like why was he even in the movie? he literally could have just been lifted out completely.

This interview paints a picture of James feeling pressured to fit Adam into the movie

I'm on record as absolutely loving this movie, but for as much as I do love it I don't think I am ready to see it again for a little while.

I'm 48 years old and I found the certain scenes featuring a younger Rocket to be just gut-wrenching emotionally. I can only imagine how tough those scenes may have been for your daughters at those ages.

Well we all knew they messed up when they didn’t introduce him as part of the Infinity Saga since he is the one who actually ends it in the comics with the gauntlet. However, I am very happy with the way they did it with Tony ending it. Way more brevity and emotion. Could still have had Warlock in there with Captain Marvel coming in at the same time taking down Sanctuary II like Captain Marvel did do in the movie. Just a miss to not get him into the Infinity Saga because the character is a badass.

I haven't seen it yet (maybe this weekend).
Adam Warlock isn't one I was really looking forward to. I know I'm supposed to, but his stories can be awfully difficult to get into, and he's a tough character for writers to get a handle on. I won't be surprised if I walk out thinking "well, he was fine-ish."

If it means anything, I'm of the opinion it is NOT a good sign that Echo is dropping all at once. To mean, that screams this show is not any good, and we don't want to drag it out. Lets just rip off the band-aid and be done with it. I could be completely wrong with that.

100% that was my first thought, well Echo must suck.

Unless. UNLESS, they are rushing it before another tie in drops. But, you’re probably right, it’s gonna suck.

There’s been a couple shows that I think would have benefitted from being released in a single day(Hawkeye, she hulk, fatws), not that they were bad shows, but cliffhangers week to week were not very strong.

Sister and I finally have a chance to see Guardians this week, but she's being reluctant because of the animal scenes. How bad are they? She knows they're CGI, but it's still worried about it.

It’s not THAT bad, more sad at the right times. It also helps propel your feelings toward the villain getting his.
