Yeah, people might be complaining about the communication part of what happened last night, but the fact is the NFL probably has prepared for a lot of contingencies. I bet once the dust settles a little bit, everyone will be opening up those files and their Emergency Action Plans to do a serious read through / double take.
As far as the communication thing goes, in all reality it was 40 minutes from when the ambulance left the field to when they formally canceled the game. They probably needed just that amount of time to get everything lined up and organized. Hell, they were probably trying to make sure he was going to pull through before putting out their statement.
The 40-60 minutes that most people sat there watching it probably seemed long, but I'd bet behind the scenes stuff was happening very, very, quickly. Anyone who's been on either side of an emergency situation knows that feeling. If you are out in the **** dealing with the problem, time flies. If you are the one in the office trying to coordinate and relay messages, time seems to crawl.
