Buffalo Bills Damar Hamlin

I heard on one of the national shows today that they didnt have a defibrillator available when Hank Gaithers had his cardiac attack. Its good to see people have learned over time to have these things available, even at high school events.

I think it's required.

One problem I've found is there doesn't seem to be a) communication on where it's located in a building or campus and b) available training.

Wow, didn’t know that. The NFL gets a lot of ****, much of it deserved, but they have planned for something like this even though it’s never happened. Kudos to them and they might have saved someone’s life. Usually it takes something worse before organizations are fully prepared.

Yeah, people might be complaining about the communication part of what happened last night, but the fact is the NFL probably has prepared for a lot of contingencies. I bet once the dust settles a little bit, everyone will be opening up those files and their Emergency Action Plans to do a serious read through / double take.

As far as the communication thing goes, in all reality it was 40 minutes from when the ambulance left the field to when they formally canceled the game. They probably needed just that amount of time to get everything lined up and organized. Hell, they were probably trying to make sure he was going to pull through before putting out their statement.

The 40-60 minutes that most people sat there watching it probably seemed long, but I'd bet behind the scenes stuff was happening very, very, quickly. Anyone who's been on either side of an emergency situation knows that feeling. If you are out in the **** dealing with the problem, time flies. If you are the one in the office trying to coordinate and relay messages, time seems to crawl.

They interviewed the uncle on CNN too. Said they had to revive him once on the field and when they got to the hospital. Also, they have him laying on his stomach so he doesn't get fluid in his lungs.
Tough to hear but not surprising unfortunately. Obviously he's got a long ways to go just to get stable it sounds like, but let's assume that goes well. It'll be really interesting to see what the prognosis is as it sounds like he went a decent amount of time without oxygen. Tough kid with a lot of support.

Been trying to get a lockdown time stamp but what have you seen/read/heard on the actual time without oxygen?

I'm a few pages/hours late, but man. chiropractic is a bunch of quackery. I'm a lawyer, sister is a neonatal doc.. some chiros who understand it's mostly ******** are fine? but it's basically the equivalent of getting a massage with more potential downside. cracking your back won't cure the flu, and it won't fix your athletic performance anymore than placebo.

I can see it taking at least 40-60 minutes to get everything place to get 65k+ people out of the stadium and parking lots. The decision was likely made well before the announcement was made.

I thought they were a waste until I popped rib out of place and could barely breathe for a couple days. 40 dollars at a chiro was cheap compared to 190 doctor office visit.

Unfortunately in this day and age I think I've read or heard just about everything so I wouldn't repost anything. Unless the family, doctors, or team release it I figure it's probably all wrong.

I have a really bad back and had a small fracture in my neck when young so I just live with the pain, but I like standard chiropractic care. I'm personally not a believer in the holistic stuff though. I could absolutely be wrong, but I've yet to have a back, neck, shoulder, etc adjustment cure my bronchitis or allergies or mental health issues. But, who knows. I won't make fun of those that do believe because we're all different.

Also always seems weird when i see they offer sports physicals so kids can participate.

I remember my folks went when i was a kid, but it was mostly for what you shared (glorified massage, etc) and it was a smalltown guy that wasn't a crack.

I had a friend in college that i saw a few years later who's husband is one...we were hanging out and she said she may get an aspirin and he got all weird and was like "remember, we don't need any medicine" (the idea EVERYTHING can be cured via a chiropractor).
