Southwest disaster

Southwest is pretty well known for having a lot of cash on hand as a business. That's going to go away over the next month as they reimburse people for this mess.

Apparently it was a operational break down, their scheduling system is largely manual, and employee burnout hit a breaking point, and my guess is their HQ operations was a disaster and they lost key employees who would work miracles in the past. Of course you got executives going through the motions, eating off the carcas, taking huge bonuses and sitting at home with their families during holidays.

Southwest has now cancelled most flights looking for a reboot for later this week.

They will be forced to spend big money upgrading systems also, apparently begging the feds for a bailout. A complete operational breakdown while executives took huge bonuses for the last decade, blaming operations for their disasters while sitting home every holiday in their cozy homes. This is why executives should be looked down upon, although there are good ones, their failures get blamed on everyone but themselves while they rake in the cash living high on the hog.

Yeah, but “reasonable” is doing a lot of heavy lifting when they talk about reasonable requests for reimbursement. I wonder what they’ll consider as reasonable

So if you were sick on Christmas Eve how do you get a doctors note to return today, no doctors offices were open yesterday. So I guess you have to pay 500 to go to emergency room to get a doctors note to go to work. Screw your doctors notes.

When quarterly earnings are all that matters, these are the consequences.

Well this isn't going to help their quarterly earnings. Poor management and short sightedness will come back to bite them eventually, and the reputation hit will cost them significantly in the future.

Not following it, we’re in it, kind of. Texts early this morning said both flights on Thursday are cancelled. We’ve already rebooked on Delta but can’t get to website location to cancel our original reservation using various links SW has provided.
