If you want to know exactly what WON'T happen. Read a national reporter's take on realignment.

These idiots have not called a single element of the process correctly.

Remember when Stewart Mandel went on the CF Podcast and said streaming meanings nothing.. Big 12 has died 3 times in the past decade.

Nobody gets this right every step of the way, including the local guys. A little humility would serve everyone well.

I had an 'ah-ha' moment. Why would ND join the BigTen to earn the same as Iowa in TV money? Therefore, ND doesn't join the conference.

That's my hot take.

Nebraska is in iowa states conference and has a top 4 brand for 35 years. Then they join Iowas conference and quickly is relegated to a No. 15 brand. Smart move.

The weird thing is that there are certain fanbases that think Nebraska isn't as successful because of the competition, like they're not just really bad vs. their dominance when they smothered very good teams.

I don't have the faintest idea what a "loose partnership" means, but it seems a long way from a foregone conclusion that some/most of these schools end up in the Big 12.

My guess is they want a partnership to increase the number of out of conference games they have with one of the other power conferences. Doing something like that would bring more value to the media companies than your usual MAC or FCS school.

So did Nebraska make the wrong choice in hindsight?

For brand? Yes. But they hadn't been the same since CU broke them a decade before they left.

For stability in conference issues, no.

One could ask whether Nebraska was a true blue-blood or if the simply had a great 30-year run by taking advantage of loopholes in the rules that are shut tight now. The blue bloods have advantages in fan support, money, and media attention that allow them to return to the top fairly quickly even if they have some down years. The exception might be Texas. Their ability to screw things up is unparalleled.

UT is the dysfunctional co-worker or friend who keeps jumping jobs/relationships etc. and blames everyone else for their problems.

CW had a great point on his quick podcast today.

What is Oregon and Washington going to do if the Big Ten holds tight for 1-3 years while they wait on Notre Dame or just decide that 16 is where they want to be at?

Let's just say the Big XII takes CU, Utah, ASU, & Arizona and has a cool, fun, 16 team league where everyone cares about football. At that point, the Pac 10 is left with 4 schools and has to fold so the 4 incoming Pac 12 to Big XII schools could uplay right away in 2023.

Would Oregon and Washington just go independent and wait for Big 10? Would they beg to get in ACC and travel all the across the country? Would they want in the Big 12? Would the Big 12 take them (yes, they would)? Would the Oregon and Washington law makers make them take WSU and Oregon State?

So many moving parts.

I agree with how crazy everything is shaking out but one thing that I keep seeing people throw out like it is an easy thing to do is going independent. That is such and insane minefield that would not only be impossible for most schools but would also involve negotiating a media rights deal just for the school that would make them almost no money and they would be trapped in for years to come.

I could have missed it, but I don't see anyone saying anyone other than nd can realistically be independent

I realy don't care about either Washngton or Oregon. They would be nice to have, but I sense too much drama with those two and most of it not good for the Big Xii. Let's invite ASU, UA, UU and CU and be done with it.
