Tyrese Hunter Entering the Transfer Portal - NIL Speculation

Is there a case for tampering? He isn’t in the portal, so other schools aren’t supposed to be contacting. Right?
That rule only applies to the non-bluebloods. Kentucky, NC, KU et al. needn't be bothered by such things.

Schools aren’t putting together funds, fan bases are. No reason why this one can’t as well. The school should have a dept to help navigate NIL deals to cut out middle men but that’s the extent of what they can really do.

I get that the mega donors might not be in place but you can put together an impressive fund with a large number of small donors. Get 50,000 alumni to donate 100 a year and you can pay every single football and mbb player 50k a year. Just need someone to organize it.
Tragedy of the commons unless you have a NIL savvy AD to organize the fanbase (not organize NIL). JP likes to keep money going through him.

The direction starts at the AD level, via “compliance”. ADs are the stewards of fan support and what fans should prioritize. Just thinking 50k fans are going to grassroots it without a proactive AD is starting at a disadvantage.

Mosts fans still don’t even know NIL and its compliance. They certainly don’t know when or how much a player or recruit is asking.

Why can’t a savvy booster organize NIL. Someone like you who knows more than anyone about NIL and how to do it. Problem solved.

Works if your dept has a Surplus - I suppose.
Our eventual new TV contract probably makes things much worse. Going to be very hard to balance the future books.
What Friendly Spartan says is 100% correct, except he way underestimates the cheapness of our fan base.
What is the position of our AD? People say we don’t have a surplus, but our Covid loss was paid out of reserves from previous surpluses. Surpluses that people kept saying we didn’t have.

Can someone explain to me why this is the case? Seems like every time NIL comes up people talk about how cheap the fan base is yet also talks about the incredible support and attendance numbers? I’m just trying to wrap my head around how thousands will may for season tickets, parking, food, merch, etc but not pony up 50-100 bucks a year for NIL?

We Are Iowa State.

It’s a contradiction isn’t it?
The short answer is people are foolish with their time and money.

They’ll boast how they won’t spend on a player, that’s not enough of a priority to them or enough ROI, yet they spend money on tickets and spend their life on ISU message boards chatting about recruiting and teams. And if the team wins they’ll spend more money and more time.

I cannot believe people truly think AD's aren't putting together NIL groups off the record. If JP isn't telling potential donors to throw money at recruits, even 10% of what they want to give, these days he's neglecting his duties as AD of a major D1 institution.

I understand that this thread is full of batshit crazy conspiracy nuts who won't let this debunked conspiracy go.
It's a freaking message board, dude.

I'm sure the NC boards are full of brilliant treatises best read with tea and crumpets.

We're so lucky to have you here to let us know how intellectually inferior we are to the great UNC...

We financed $20 million in debt related to covid. What reserves are you talking about?
I will go back through, but I remember JP saying this then when the year was done mentioned somewhere that they didn’t have to finance anything due to cost savings of surpluses.

Here you go, these surpluses.

'Intellectually' and 'UNC' are usually never found in the same sentence.

@isufbcurt I'm wondering what you disagree with? is JP not gonna ask a donor to put money towards NIL payments or what?

We have a lot of fans who love going to games and getting that experience in return for their cash. We don't have a lot of fans who will willingly donate to a 19 year old's bank account in return for their loyalty. It doesn't seem that complicated to me.

Given your posting rate and obvious wisdom, we can expect that you're donating 5 figures (at least?) to an NIL fund? Or does JP have to call you directly for that?

From what I have read, it is likely best that the School doesn’t even get involved in NIL. That way you avoid pay for play issues. And watch state laws. They differ. Boosters to Athlete is best. School isn’t officially involved.

Its a ploy by TJ to get a NIL fund setup obviously. Tickets are going up is my guess to pay for the NIL surcharge. We are not an elite, and we are an elite. University presidents and their bosses could so obviously solve this, but would take some guts and vision. And someone needs to be the first through the gate, which will be painful.

His job is to get money for the AD not individual players.

There are non-AD groups being formed to deal with NIL
My point being, the AD at tons of places is pointing donors to an NIL fund to keep players around.
