Yellowstone - new TV "western"

Love the show but last night was hard to watch. John got shot multiple times at point blank range with an automatic rifle and lived?
Beth was near an explosion that blew bricks out of the building and walks out? No traumatic brain injuries?

The cops just unload on the first blue van they see? They were hours behind it and only knew it was a two tone van and they just managed to catch up?

Months later the cops are still protecting the Dutton’s front gate but haven’t managed to run down any leads on the shooters?

Rainwater’s attorney was going to file a suit in last season’s finale to stop construction but apparently didn’t? What happened to that?

I am a huge fan of the show but last night was just bad and something a 12 year old would write for a storyline. I remember thinking the same thing with a few episodes of Breaking Bad so hopefully it gets better.

I was surprised they killed him off like that, figured it would be something worse but hey at least it looked like a natural accident. I'm no snake expert but guessing if they were pressed on it they'd say it was some variety that venom can kill you quickly and not your run of the mill rattle snake.
To me it was almost as if they had the episode done and then they were like ah ****, we still gotta get rid of Roark. How can we do it in two minutes?

Forgot to reply but we watched this movie the other month and it was pretty good. My brother lives just to the NE of the actual Wind River Reservation so told him he ought to watch it sometime too. It's interesting to see some of the same actors from Yellowstone cast in it in a different role. Kelsey Asbille (Monica) Gil Birmingham (Rainwater) were good and Ian Bohen (Ryan) had a short appearance as well. Graham Greene who was in the Longmire series (another great show BTW) and Jeremy Renner as the main character were also very good.

I think I will try to watch Hell or High Water sometime. Looks like Gil and Taylor Sheridan are both cast in that and Jeff Bridges and Katy Mixon are notable names too. We're going to pay for Paramount + just to watch Mayor of Kingstown and Yellowstone 1883 that drops soon. Already have the DVR set and planning to make Sunday appointment TV for the 2 hour Season 4 premiere that has been a LONG wait!

You'll like Hell or High Water. Great movie with the most underrated actor of his generation (Ben Foster).

I didn't know anything about Sheridan. Holy smokes that guy puts out some good stuff.

I don't know why Rip had the Dutton cowboys "get rid" of the bodies. Wouldn't they want to keep them to help figure out who did the hit? And to help the Sheriff investigate?

This was something I wondered too. There was a moment when Monica was headed to the bunkhouse you saw them hanging a guy. I guess I would want to leave 1 alive and torture the information you need out of them before you just killed them all. Maybe more of these observations come to light as the season progresses? At least I hope it does as just seemed like a shoot now and ask questions later for all these show downs they had with the attackers. They've done that before with Dan Jenkins where they got him to talk while hanging from a noose but didn't kill him and then last season the Wade guy Rourke hired to torment the Duttons turned out he was a branded man and they hung him but not after taking back the brand and getting some info too.

And let's face it the Sherriff is not exactly the brightest guy either as he tried to frame Rip once with the dead bear and also was in the Beck brother's back pocket for awhile too before figuring out it wasn't worth it. It's a little ironic that most of the crimes get handled by the "livestock agents" because the Sherriff is usually too chicken to use some of the tactics they do.

They REALLY half assed Roark’s demise. Rattlesnake bites rarely kill at all and if they do it takes hours not minutes. The show is normally not that sloppy.
I’m wondering if Josh Holloway said he wasn’t going to do another season so they had to get rid of his character quickly. I looked at my wife after that scene and went “Thats it? Why the **** did they even have him as a character?”

They had a natural out with the CEO showing up. Wouldn't have even had to have him on screen, could have had somebody ask about him and she could have said she fired him.

I'm sure that's what it was, he's got a new HBO Max series called Duster that's in production.

Maybe he wanted one last scene to be killed off just for some closure? Could see that happen as just randomly disappearing off a show just makes it an awkward ending.

I was disappointed when they killed off Neal McDonough's character Malcom Beck as he is a good actor and his character was a great villain. Was hoping even though they shot him that he somehow survived and lived on to get revenge but I get it, some actors probably only want to do 1 season of these shows.

I know I need to suspend reality more than I do but does anyone die within seconds of being bitten by a snake?

A lot of my family watches this show so I figured I'll try it out. Took me a while to find where to watch. So this show is on a channel called Paramount Network, but not on Paramount Plus, which are owned by ViacomCBS, but it is on Peacock, which is owned by NBC. Makes sense.

Seal Team went from CBS to Paramount + mid-season. Fully expect them to reel us in and jump this to the subscription channel at some point.

So looks like Jamie's biological father has a connection from prison to the guy that put the hit out on the Duttons so this could get interesting.

On a side note has anyone watched the first episode of Mayor of Kingstown? Dunno what to make of it yet, the first episode was a little underwhelming and seems like they tried too hard to us the F word in about every other sentence at times. I don't mind some cursing but just seemed like there were stretches the F bomb was said in about every line. Also the initial story lines and who exactly are some of the characters left me a bit confused. Its going to have to get a lot better in the next episode or 2 for me to continue watching it.

Lot of stuff packed into 1 episode last night. The most interesting to me was the chaos with the bunkhouse between Lloyd and Walker. Rip definitely is in a tough spot because of his relationship with Lloyd and his hate for Walker but he had to do what he had to do. Thought Lloyd might have been taking a trip to the train station but he's been a likable character I am glad that was not his fate. I could care less about Mia and Laramie getting told to leave, they really don't have much going on for storylines these days but I sure hope that is not the last we see of Teeter. Curious to see just how much they keep including scenes with Jimmy at the 4 6's ranch as that really doesn't have much to do with the rest of the main stories anymore and apparently he's going to be part of a new series about the 6666 ranch? I guess we now have confirmation it was Jamie's dad that put out the hits on the Duttons but as usual Jamie showed just how weak he is and bought into another line of BS someone fed him. He's so emotionally instable at times depending on which person in his life is manipulating him I've always wondered if the end game with his character is going to be him killing himself some day.

Teeter is also going to be in the 6666 series so that's where she's headed.

I love what they're doing with Beth and Market Equities.

I haven't seen last night's episode but this season has been laughably bad. I watch to laugh now. A good show turning to crap right before my eyes. So over the top. I'll keep watching though.

The daughter jumped the shark as a character to the point we just roll our eyes at her.

Watched for the first time last night. I was confused. The old guy threw a knife into the guitar players chest. Very close to his heart. Next think I know the two guys are fighting in the horse pen. The dude had a knife in his chest just before. Now he's totally fine? Did I miss something?

I do like looking at Laramie though. I hope she's not completely written off the show.

And FWIW, if it matters at all, Mia left on her own. The writers could have more in store for her going forward.
