No More Horns Down

Certainly but the Big 12 head of officials this morning said they'll be cracking down on it this year.

They said they would be cracking down on taunting in general and (I’m assuming) it was some thin skinned Texas reporter that asked if it included horns down. ESPN has the Longhorn Network so they thought it was relevant to put that in the article when, in reality, nobody outside of Texas cares.

Can a player get called for taunting if they flash the horns down at the Texas fans after scoring a touchdown?

In the ESPN article it said it would “probably” not be called a penalty, so who knows. ISU plays Texas at home this year so I would guess it won’t matter for this years game as much.

Lol this is only going to encourage fans to go bonkers with this. It’s going to have the opposite effect in a lot of ways.

I’m trying to think of an equivalent to this for any other team in any other sport. I can’t.

Who would have thought that Texas would be so thin-skinned? I guess it is Austin which is a bit less Texan than most of Texas.

Next thing, they'll need to change their mascot because it promotes animal cruelty. They'll become the Texas Burnt Orange or maybe some generic clothing article like Texas Shirts.

as a taunt from a player, horns down isn't allowed. why is that hard to put together?

In the same regard if a Texas player flashes the the horns up in celebration towards another player that should be a penalty as well
Exactly what I was thinking but I will be shocked if it actually gets flagged.

Let me just add that I think the horns down thing is stupid, but only slightly more stupid than all of the Texas, A&M, Tech, Baylor, Miami, KSU, Oregon, Wichita State, etc. hand gestures. But if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be the shocker.

If our crowd on the home side doesnt pre-plan a colored shirt seat design of a hand doing horns down when Texas is here like they did with Cyclone Power, what are we even doing

Always protecting Texas. I recall Jaquan Bailey getting an unsportsmanlike penalty when he did a summersault at the sidelines when coming off the field. Gave the bums a fresh set of downs and may have helped them to win the game.
