Tristan Enaruna Commits

This is the way I see the rotation:

Hunter/jackson or walker
Kalscheur/grill
Hinson/johnson
Enaruna/kunc
Foster/conditt/jones

I have a feeling we may see some small ball with Kunc at the 5 if Foster/conditt combo doesn’t improve from last year.

I'm not going to predict Hinson as a starter; he hasn't played in a game for - what 18 months? Our team didn't have many weapons last year, but at times Johnson gave us 20-point production.

Maybe. 247sports guy sees some Marial Shayok in him (saying a lot) due to his smoothness, his gliding sort of effortlessly, and his athleticism. He also thinks he often doesn't work hard enough or up to his potential, but has maybe 2nd round NBA potential when thru w/ ISU. Thinks he'll open up on the bench initially but will start by end of year.

Watching the highlight video from the Dutch team, I see a lot more of Ejim in his game. By the time Ejim was a Sr. he could step out and hit the outside shot, but really was an all around player more than a specialist. Shakyok was an incredible shooter and could create off the bounce. Question now is, can he be as gritty and hardworking on the floor as Ejim was.

Hinson not starting is an outside possibility, regardless I'd rather Kunc starts over Johnson. This could all be mute when TJ fills scholarship 13.

Solid pick up. Worried about those saying Conditt should start over Foster. If Foster can’t figure out how to get in the starting lineup over Conditt, I’m worried we have to start considering him a bust of a recruit.
I'm worried about Foster being able to play defense, and rebound against Power 6 opponents. We know he can step out and create mismatches on offense, but we just haven't seen him enough to know if he can hold his own in the paint for 25 minutes per game.
George has done it, just inconsistently.

I am not worried about that all. Foster is a good rebounder and with the coaches they have now I am not worried about him being able to defend.

Don't worry, TJ has been selling XF as one of the cornerstones to the rebuild with Hunter and Tamin. It is obviously early and he's coming off injury but all indications are he's ready to go now. I am pretty sure XF would have been starting by the end of this past year if not the injury as he was earning more minutes each game. I'm confident XF will be a starter going into the season and given a long leash.

I guess that was kind of what I was saying, in a condescending way. I’m worried about the people that think Conditt should start over Foster. And if Conditt DID start over Foster, then we need to be concerned about Foster’s ability.

Don’t underestimate Conditt just yet. Kyle Green is a great big man coach. Let’s see if George learns a couple of things, Foster too for that matter.

Yeah, people underestimate the value of good, creative guards to a big man. If you don't get it to him in the right spots, or can't beat your man well enough to draw the help, you just made his job all that much harder.

I guess I don’t fully agree about the potential. I feel like at this point he just is what he is.
He gave basically zero effort last season and was extremely out of shape 3/4 of the season as well. I'm putting no stock into what George was under Prohm, and putting 100% stock into potential.

Exactly, Kyle green hasn’t coached recruits at this caliber yet, while he has developed great post players at UNI, he hasn’t had guys with this athletic ability yet.

That's a really long rotation. I do agree Kunc may get some at the five. Enaruna isn't going to play the 4 regardless of his height. I see the rotation maxing out at 10, but more likely 8 or 9. Here's my 10 to draw from.

Hunter/ Walker or Grill
Kalscheur/ Grill
Enaruna/ Hinson
Hinson/ TBD/ Kunc
Foster/ Conditt or Jones/ Kunc
I would find a rotation of 9-10 players getting regular time in the rotation refreshing.

Whether from lack of talent depth or purely coaching game management choices, the short bench/6-7 player rotations have bugged me during both the Hoiberg and Prohm tenures.

We have had some high caliber players who justifiably were playing a lot of minutes, but I always felt like we were playing shorter rotations than other teams (no stats for it, just the feeling I have had watching and occasionally checked in box scores after games).

IMO it helps everyone to sacrifice some starter minute and play a deeper rotation. Starters are fresher for end of game situations, more engaged/competitive practices if the end of bench guys know there's a real opportunity to earn some minutes, and reduced impact of injuries and foul trouble if you have back end players with experience already.

He’s going to be a senior. CAN he improve? Absolutely. But I think you get to a point where you have to stop banking on potential and just realizing people are what they are.

I give a "maybe" to the question "can he improve." Maybe he can, maybe he can't, will, won't, whatever.
When Conditt has energy, he can be a fun energy guy. That looks like his ceiling, and that's a fine contribution.

I just think you don't like Conditt and refuse to give him a second chance under new coaching lol
I absolutely love Conditt. I’ve said it here before. I think he’s a fantastic human being and a phenomenal ambassador for the university. I’ve said it multiple times right on these very boards.

I just don’t allow my judgement of him as a Cyclone to cloud my opinion of him as a player based on what he’s shown us. I think he’s at his best as a high energy guy off the bench where he can have a burst of 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks over a 6 minute period of time.
