TJ doesn’t need young guys who aren’t Big 12 caliber. He doesn’t have to win next year. He needs to build for year 2. Get a guy like Hunter who can help right but there’s no reason to take a failed regimes projects.

I get the thought.... but going asking TJ to show progress in year one with 12 new players isn't fair either. There are good players on the roster who can play in the Big 12. It is much easier to sell the program to his first recruiting class finishing above .500.
Keeping the high level players to build a core for in the next two years is important to set up Otz's tenure as coach.
While true.. you also need guys that are 100% bought into the vision and we don’t know if Bolton was going to buy into TJ’s new culture.

Again, not saying that we should have honored the offer. I'm saying that I can see why the kid would be pissed. Jesus, he's an 18 year old. They aren't the most logical. But TJ should be able to anticipate that and deal with it. Isn't that supposed to be his strength?
He did.

Agreed! You have to put the most important things first. Things that are going to be here. That is, setting things up for his family to move, finding a staff, identifying quality players, and I'm sure a hell of a lot more things.

But he took the time to already call Lipsey who's a '22 recruit...that could've waited.

I don't know if he called Nunn or not...but if he didn't, that's disrespectful to Nunn. I'm perfectly fine with TJ not wanting Nunn but show some class and give a kid who thought he had his future set a call to let him know you're going in a different direction. It's the right thing to do.

I'm hoping TJ did that and we're not getting the full story.

What's so hard to understand about my 2 comments?

Guys that average 19 points in a Power 6 conference aren't going to a new school based on playing time. That's some delusional expectations if people think TJ will come in and need to get a player of that caliber.

We should be competing with Kansas for players, not Eastern Michigan and Siena.

Carr who will be the most heavily recruited transfer maybe in history and will hsve his pick of Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc.

First....it's delusional to think TJ needs to get the calibur player of Carr.........until Nunn de-commits. Now....we need to be competing against KU for players.........which Carr is. Never stop being you.

We. Contacted. Him.

I'm not sure why I should believe you.

But I've conceded that D Rob probably connected him. I'm saying that maybe TJ should have also contacted him.

At some point it is going to be OK to not think everything TJ does is OK, right? Hell, Matt Campbell gets more **** than this and he's actually proven to be an elite coach.

This is such a dumb comparison to begin with, but yea, when you only have 15 employees and 12 of them are minimum wage employees, it’s certainly not hard to do.
Except one isn't even an employee yet, just a potential employee the old boss said they would hire but they never even filled out the paperwork... Your decision not to hire him afterall would come directly from you, and not the lead recruiter who has had contact with him already? You must not be that busy of a boss. Also you would handle this within 2 days of starting your job. Twins already said ISU reached out and said they didn't want him, just wasnt tj personally from the sounds of it.

I was not a fan of the TJ hire, but his talent evaluation is not the reason I was skeptical.

Honestly, who cares if TJ didn’t contact Nunn. If he did and pulled the scholly Nunn would have put that out there as well. This, in my opinion is the better option.

Nunn never says he wasn’t contacted, he just wasn’t contacted by TJ.

He is acting like the kind of person you wouldn’t want on the team anyway. He could have just said he is moving on due to the coaching change and been done with it.

We’ve known about this since Wednesday. If we knew about it by then, TJ knew about it before. Not that he could have reached out in that time, but he certainly could have drafted a text template to text to them over the course of days since he took over.
Forget it. We're in the early stages where TJ can walk on Lake Laverne and turn water into Busch Lite. Right now he could shoot someone in the middle of Welch avenue and not lose any fans.

Nunn was not signed. Why not? Tyrese Hunter is signed. Until signed, verbal commitments are not binding. It really looks like Prohm and Small were making a major recruiting reach. And neither are going to be on the Iowa State Coaching Staff.

I wonder if he gets his old email back
I hope not. Otherwise he will open it to years of male enhancement pills, sex drive, and Costco emails. Good luck calling any more recruits if he has to spend the time to sort through all that!
