Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

If I'm a teenage kid about to commit important years of my life to a coach it would be a big factor to me if that coach had previously and abruptly left the same university he's trying to recruit me to now. And you can bet that if other coaching staffs are recruiting against ISU in this situation then they will play that card.

because what happened since he left here does not matter at all. So who cares if he’s had any success

I’m agreeing with you here. Nothing he’s done that failed matters one bit. He needs to come home and save the program

What in the last 7 years of Fred’s Coaching Jobs makes you think Fred can save the program? Fred’s Failures do not support your premise that Fred will save the program.

Darian Devries should be pursued.

it’s at the point where only Fred’s return will truly satisfy people.

if it’s not fred, the new guy will get a good will because he’s not prohm. But that, too, will have limits

For those wanting Fred back. So you want a guy who left Iowa State for greener pastures in the Pros. Totally sucked at Coaching the Bulls. Gets Fired. Hired by Nebraska as Head Coach. Totally sucks there. Fred has not had a Winning Season since his first as Bulls Head Coach where he inherited a good team. They went 42-40. Winning 8 games less than the previous year under Tom Thibodeau who went 50-32 in Regular Season the previous year.

Fred had some great teams at Iowa State. But I am not sure at all that he would be able to be successful in a second run. I have not seen anything in the last 7 years that supports Fred having a successful return. Plus he wanted out of Ames. There are better candidates.
All I know is that T.J. isn’t one of them.

I have not heard anyone outside of this message board, i.e. normal people, mention Freds name. I don't think it is anywhere near an expectation for most people and if it's someone else it will be just fine.

It will be for awhile, again simply because it won’t be Steve Prohm.

but any continued struggles, and that good will erodes quickly.

I really like Moser, but my concern with a coach like that is can they win consistently ion the B12 with the type of players they are currently getting because I don't think highly regarded recruits are going to want to grind like he asks his players to do. This pretty much applies to all successful mid major coaches.

Of course it’s true, unless you’re saying cyclonefanatic is not a representation of the fan base as a whole

You said " it’s at the point where only Fred’s return will truly satisfy people." That not even close to true.

There are MANY people who would take Dana Altman and equivalent over Fred Hoiberg. Maybe the majority of ISU fans (at least the non-casual fans). A large amount of ISU fans would be satisfied with this.

Give me Fred or give me death!
Or Belein. Or Altman.
Just don't go cheap. We need to get the winning going.
And don't go lazy and just call TJ. Make an effort.

I would take TJ over Prohm at this point. Prohm has led us to Ken Trickey level of success.

No one cares about Dana Altman, or John Bielein, or any other coaches that wouldn’t take this job.

people also aren’t going to be all fired up about TJ or Devries, or smith, or whoever else is introduced because they all have huge question marks around them.

Fred ticks all the boxes for the fan base as a whole.

No recent inside info, but I wouldn't be surprised if Albaugh/Loutsch are the TJ buyout donors based on past relationships.

and I’d bet the other big donors are for Hoiberg.
