Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

Summary - Prohm’s name is mentioned as a candidate for New Mexico. That would be great for ISU. But I have no idea how ANY AD could look at Prohm’s record, his teams, and what he did at Iowa State and say “oh yeah, I want me some of that for my program!”.

Uh, if you are New Mexico, I think you can sell a coach that won multiple Big 12 Tournament Championships.

From the limited sample I saw on their forum I was actually surprised with how many of their fans seemed to be open to Prohm taking over there. Hopefully everyone is happy at the end of this.

The NM thing is intriguing. I could envision a scenario where NM wants to make a play and we agree to cancel any buyouts for Steve to pursue the deal. Win/Win/Win potentially as NM gets a new coach without footing a buyout, Steve gets a needed fresh start, and ISU gets to move on without the hurdle of a buyout.

Leaving plenty of cap for Fred's buyout at Nebraska!!!!!

Was very surprised to read this as there has been no mention of New Mexico on CF. With all of the 'insiders' sharing what they've heard about donor buyout money, Fred's return dreams, etc, how did Shatel hear this and nobody on CF has?

I was more interested in Shatel's comment about Pollard contacting DeVries.

Way up there
New Mexico has good history and p6 level facilities but man are they a **** show right now....I know they've had a lot of kids transfer out recently as well. I can get why some mid major programs would be more focused on Prohm's first few years than the last few but this looks like a total rebuild, idk what would convince anyone he was the man for that job. With that said, I really hope it works out. From Steve's perspective, that's a great place to land.

For us or the other team? ;)

In all seriousness I think Bolton is the best player for the 'Clones, not that it is high praise this season. It would be fun to see him with more talent around him than what we currently have.
I agree with everything you said. I was being very tongue in cheeky

But would Katie be happy in New Mexico? Seems like a hell hole compared to Ames, which she is already rumored to not like.

The simple answer is because as much as everyone likes to throw around who and what they know and how much their parents donate or how they just talked to Jamie, they actually don't know jack ****.

For those wanting Fred back. So you want a guy who left Iowa State for greener pastures in the Pros. Totally sucked at Coaching the Bulls. Gets Fired. Hired by Nebraska as Head Coach. Totally sucks there. Fred has not had a Winning Season since his first as Bulls Head Coach where he inherited a good team. They went 42-40. Winning 8 games less than the previous year under Tom Thibodeau who went 50-32 in Regular Season the previous year.

Fred had some great teams at Iowa State. But I am not sure at all that he would be able to be successful in a second run. I have not seen anything in the last 7 years that supports Fred having a successful return. Plus he wanted out of Ames. There are better candidates.

Sounds like it's time to go get Fred and bring him home. I'll allow it.

Please give your list of reasonable candidates that are better than Fred for US.

Did Cat just disagree with a question?

because what happened since he left here does not matter at all. So who cares if he’s had any success

I’m agreeing with you here. Nothing he’s done that failed matters one bit. He needs to come home and save the program
