Wow! We've come to the point of not believing what actually comes out of people's mouths. We're at a point in humanity where the truth is so over boldened with egos spewing what they 'want' to be the truth, but have little to no evidence to support their claims.

Its almost like Pollard is super unlikeable, especially if it is someone that has a different opinion. Surprise to NOBODY. The bootlickers here dont want to hear it, but it is what it is.

"Worship" isn't exactly how I would describe the relationship between posters on CF and Jamie. Most understand Jamie has done a lot of good at Iowa State, but he is criticized a lot on here. We're reminded of his failed hires, bad decisions, arrogance, and cringey comments. But because people don't buy a daf story that makes them bootlickers? Absolutely stupid.

I think these firms aren’t used like an HR department. I think a lot of is used for the logistics. Follow Kyle Bowlsby on Twitter, he has good information regarding these firms.

I'm glad we have JP.

In the dark days of the 70's then AD Lou McCollough (sp?) called a friend of his for advice on who ISU should hire as a BB coach. That gentlemen said, "what about me," or so the story goes. Johnny Orr came on board for the unheard of salary of around $75 thousand I believe and the Hilton crowds went crazy. While never winning a conference championship and struggling on the road, in came Grayer, Stevens, Jeff and Fred. Can lightning strike twice? We'll see.

I'm also glad we have JP because we aren't facing $20 million lawsuits for discrimination, recruiting violations or the fallout from sordid shoe deals. Think about how important that is in attracting good people who who won't be tempted to break the rules. I think Matt Campbell fits us nicely.

I've also met ISU's president and seen her in action. JP and Wendy want a clean program, built the right way.

In my opinion, this program will attract the talent we need to get us out of the ditch. I can wait for the right hire.

Word of advice, people that are trying to get you, to give them money, are manipulating you and telling you what you want to hear. FYI.

Look at the records and state of the programs and fill me in on if they or better or not under his very very very sensitive oversight.

anyway, watching Michigan, really well coached. Nothing fancy, just very solid and fundamental. Keep guys in front, know when to help, run at the right times, move the ball, run motion and cut hard and with purpose and they play inside out. Man we haven’t seen any of that, just watching a well coached team makes you realize even more how rotten and out of control this program has gotten under steve Prohm.

I don't give a **** about a dying sport like wrestling or gymnastics. We could win national championships in both and it really shouldn't affect JPs grade much.

As far as hoops goes, jamie also made the hire that got the program to its highest level. Prohm ended up being a bad hire but I wouldn't call any of his other major hires bad. Mcdermott didn't work out here but he's clearly not a bad coach. Chizik and Rhoads were the right hires for the time we were hiring

A lot of the books have this as a pick'em. I know it's ISU senior night, but something doesn't smell right about this...Dixon notoriously has coached circles around Steve head to head, and TCU won last time despite missing one of their top players. I could see our guys, even if they are not mentally defeated following Tuesday's game, just simply getting out-hustled tonight, by a team that just abused them in the low-post last time. Who's betting ISU ML in this one?

Just put my money on ISU. Their backs are against the wall and there is no quit in the team. Not an endorsement of Prohm over Dixon, I just think TCU is very beatable and ISU has enough to get it done.

Phil Martelli is the reason they are so well coached. Howard is still learning on the job. That being said it helps coaches look alot better also when you have 3 NBA players in your starting lineup.

He's held on to CJL and volleyball has kept steady. Softball is having a historic start. Jackson was a mistake, but Dresser appears to have been a good hire. WBB has held steady and appears to be set up for some nice success in the next few years.

Think people are just letting their emotions run high with the state of the MBB program.

And yes, he shouldn't be immune from criticism because of Campbell, but hitting a home run in our most important sport is a big deal, and will probably be the main part of Pollard's legacy.

Martelli is absolutely a big part of Howard's success. Think Howard deserves a lot of credit for having enough humility to bring a guy like that on your staff.

At the same time, from what little of Michigan I've watched, he does appear to be a good coach. Has a good sense of the game (quick to call timeouts), is engaged, and the players seem to respect him. You watch them, and there's no doubt that he's the guy in charge.

The fiscal status of the department is in very good condition. The health of the conference is better because of JP. Heck, one could argue the conference exists because of him. While not all the records are better, the overall health of athletics is the best in my 50 years of affiliation with Iowa State. You, like so many others, are infected with the taste of success. Yes, Prohm's record is not good, but several sports are much better off. So, please stop your embarrassing lobbying against JP. You just look bad.

Some of the small things though have helped out as well... some of the improvements to around the jack trice/Hilton area (this far and forthcoming), the tailgate tour and putting the coaches out in front of state of Iowa people, putting a, billboard up on the east side of the state to rile hawk fans, bringing back older players and coaches and making them feel welcomed

Since you have so much insight- why don't you go program by program and tell us which programs are better or worse since Pollard was hired. You sound like a bitter person.

Yeah, I agree, hes going to have a dynasty going there. I saw they already have 3 McDonald's AA's coming in next year. Dickinson might be back also.

Wagner and Livers are first round NBA picks and I think they lose 4 or 5 more seniors so next year they might take a step back though. I see them being similar to Duke and Kentucky now where they get all the 1 and dones.

I don't understand the hate for JP. The guy has held the athletic department together through the pandemic and it is probably in better shape than almost everyone in the country except for a hand full of bluebloods that rake in 5-6 times what ISU does.

Sure, he has made some bad hires, and Prohm is definitely one of them, but it isn't like Prohm was some guy off the street. He was very successful at that lower level, and he has certainly brought in guys that can play based on what they are doing at the next level.

I loved JP's response to the Hawk fan breaking into the Iowa locker room several years ago. He didn't put up with the baseless allegation put out by Barta and his minions.

Maybe Georges or Naz could become our Howard someday, Fred wouldn't have been nearly as good without Sadler or his first head ( name?) assistant to help. You have to realize your strengths and be humble enough to hire to cover your weaknesses.

Serious question; if Phil Martelli is looking to get back into being a head coach, should we pursue him? I know he's not exactly young these days, but he was a hell of a coach for St. Joe's, and a lot of the CBB talking heads thought they made a huge mistake in letting him go a couple of years ago.

Don't think he'd come here, but if he's looking why not make the call? Probably a few years at it with a coach in waiting.
